The Maryland Inn, Annapolis, Maryland

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Where do I begin?
We spent one night at the Maryland Inn, in Annapolis, Maryland. We did enjoy our stay, but it could have, and should have, been much better.

We arrived at Governor Calvert House which is where all guests have to check-in, no matter which building of the hotel they are staying in – there are three in total.
We were told our room wasn’t ready, so we decided to leave our bags in the van which we had valet parked.
We went off to have lunch, returned to the Maryland Inn building in Annapolis. This building does not have a reception, just a telephone for guests to speak to a member of staff in the Governor Calvert building.
We spoke to the reception who told us we weren’t checked-in properly, so we had to walk back to the Governor Clavert building.
We checked-in, again. We then asked the valet to bring the van so we could get our luggage. He was friendly and said he’d bring the van, and then drive us to the Maryland Inn building.
Unfortunately when he returned from the garage with our van, he said he couldn’t drive us over to our hotel. He said we’d have to drive ourselves. We pointed out that we’d had some wine with lunch and so neither of us could legally drive. He didn’t say much after that.
We had to lug our very heavy bags to our hotel room in the Maryland Inn.
Obviously we were not impressed.
Had we not been so tired we would have pursued this matter right then and there, but we were too tired to bother engaging with him so we left it until we we in our room. Richard phoned the reception in the Governor Calvert House building and asked to speak to the manager. He explained what had happened. The manager apologised saying he’d check in to it. He phoned us later to tell us the parking fee would be waved.

Right, that’s the bad out of the way.
The good? Well, we enjoyed our stay at the Maryland Inn, in Annapolis, Maryland despite the rudeness of the valet.
Our room was a decent size. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom had hot water. It would have been nice to have had a fridge in our room, and staff on reception. It was strange not to have any staff.
