Corfu Town, Corfu, Greece
We arrived in Corfu by ferry from Patra (Patras) via Igoumenitsa.
All was not plain sailing because we had to get a taxi 1.5km’s (5€) between the two ferry terminals.
Once in Corfu Town we found our hotel, which was only a short walk from the port, and settled in.
During our two full days we explored Corfu Town on foot. It’s a pleasant town, which is well restored on the main tourist thoroughfares, but the back streets are in need of some TLC.
In general the food in Corfu Town was not particularly good. But the lovely weather meant we enjoyed our short stay.
As we were both suffering from exhaustion during our stay in Corfu Town, we didn’t really do much at all. We mainly spent our time strolling the less popular tourist streets, taking a few photos, shooting a little bit of video, and relaxing with a nice cold beer or two.
We didn’t didn’t visit the castle, but we did see one thing of interesting. A man wearing a brooch. That may not sound particularly interesting, but it did happen to be a live bird. Yep, you read that correctly. His brooch was a bird. A live bird. Strange but true. We were sitting outside a cafe, drinking a cold beer, when the bird fancier, and brooch lover, nonchalantly walked past our table. It wasn’t a sight we’d seen before, and unfortunately neither of us managed to photograph him. Shame, as it really was an unusual sight.
And that, apart from the graffiti, most of which was political, all over the walls, was the most interesting thing we saw during our short stay in Corfu Town.
