Mira Mare Apartments, Galaxidi, Greece

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

We spent two nights at the Mira Mare Apartments in Galaxidi, Greece.
When we arrived in Galaxidi, by bus from Delphi, we couldn’t find the hotel, and none of the locals knew where it was either. A friendly barman even went to the police station and asked for us, but they didn’t know either.
We walked in the searing heat, carrying our small, but heavy, bags, looking for the hotel. Eventually we phoned the hotel to ask where they were. The phone call didn’t help us at all. We stopped for a drink, where we asked the owner of the bar/restaurant and thankfully she knew where it was. A few metres away in the next street. Ha! If we’d kept walking we’d have found it. Oh well!

When we walked into the reception at the Mira Mare Apartments it was empty. No staff. We called out. Nothing. We decided to phone them. The phone on the reception desk, where we were standing, rang. We could also hear a phone ringing elsewhere in the building. Eventually a lady answered the phone. We said we were standing in reception. This conversation ended abruptly, the line went dead.
Then a lady appeared in the reception. We said we had a reservation. She wasn’t welcoming. She phoned someone. Then handed the phone to Laura. Laura told the lady on the phone that we had a reservation, and our name. She was told to wait while the reservation was checked to make sure it was ok. Laura handed he phone back to the lady who was standing glaring at us. She talked for a while and then said, come.
We followed the lady downstairs to a room in the basement, underneath the reception. The lady asked if it was ok. We said yes. She left.
At least we were finally in our room.

Our room at the Mira Mare Apartments in Galaxidi, in Greece was a decent sized oblong room. There was a very small bathroom by the entrance door, it was surprisingly tiny compared to the rest of the apartment, which was all open-plan.
The water in the shower was lovely and hot, and the water pressure was really strong. We were given lots of fresh towels every day, and there was complimentary shampoo, and a wall-mounted pump dispenser of liquid soap.
There was a kitchenette; integrated sink unit with two electric hobs, microwave and fridge. There were cups, plates, cutlery, but no glasses.
A small table and two dining chairs completed the kitchenette area.

The wardrobe was a fitted unit by the door. It had two double cupboards, with a few drawers inside one of them.
A fitted settee with cushioned seats was opposite the kitchenette area.

Our room had three single beds, two of which were pushed together to form a double bed. The bed was comfortable, but the sheets were not. They were quite old and worn, with lots of bobbly bits which made sleeping uncomfortable. But maybe we have extra sensitive skin.

The TV was a very small old one which was wall-mounted high up close to the ceiling. Not particularly comfortable to view from anywhere in the room. There was a dressing unit underneath the TV, which would have made a much better place for the TV.

Breakfast was not included in our room rate at the Mira Mare Apartments in Galaxidi. It was available for 13€ per person. We didn’t eat breakfast, so I have no idea what it was like.
Breakfast was served in the pleasant courtyard at the front of the hotel. This was also a coffee shop, juice bar type business.
During our stay we did meet two other staff members, in the evenings after our siestas, they were both very friendly. And when we checked-out, the lady who dealt with us was also friendly.

The loo in our bathroom broke, wouldnt flush, and we returned one day to find a man in our apartment. He was fixing it, which didn’t take him long. Good service.

Free WiFi was available in our room, it was quite fast too.
The Mira Mare Apartments in Galaxidi, Greece is new business, an extension of an existing hotel in the town, which may explain the teething problems they were experiencing during our stay. Hopefully once they are more established things will be better, smoother running.
We enjoyed our stay, mainly because Galaxidi itself is a really lovely place.
