Nais Hotel, Durres, Albania

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Initially we intended to stay for two nights at Nais Hotel in Durres, Albania, but after checking-in and freshening up, we liked it a lot so we decided to stay for three nights.

The welcome at Nais Hotel, when we arrived without a reservation, was very friendly and welcoming. We were offered a drink on arrival. We chose espresso, which we drank in the pleasant ground floor lounge area, it was very good.

We were shown a couple of rooms, we chose the largest one on the third floor.
The door to our room opened on to a small hallway, off of which was the bedroom and bathroom. Both of these rooms were decent sizes, the bedroom was well furnished. It had a large double bed which was very comfortable, two bedside units, wardrobe, desk, chair and a fridge. The fridge was under the desk which meant it was not possible to sit at the desk properly, but we like having a fridge in our hotel room so it wasn’t too much of a nuisance. There was a cupboard next to the desk, which had obviously housed a smaller model fridge in the past.
There was no TV in our room. When we checked-in we were asked if we wanted a TV. I said no. Laura said yes. The receptionist said she would see if she could get one for us. We never got a TV. We didn’t bother to ask again as we couldn’t be bothered.

The air-conditioning unit in the bedroom worked very well.
The hot water was piping hot, once we remembered to turn the emersion heater on. The water pressure was quite good too. There were complimentary sachets of shampoo, small bars of soap, and lots of fresh clean towels.

The main entrance to the hotel was in a side street, our room was at the front of the hotel, so we had good views out over the busy port and sea.
Being in a side street the hotel was quite quiet which was good.

Free WiFi was available in the public areas of the hotel, and in our room. The day we checked-in there was a problem getting online. The receptionist immediately phoned their Internet provider, and it was sorted out quickly.
Another one of the receptionists said the connection would be on and off in our room. She was correct. We couldn’t always get online in our room, so sometimes we used the Internet downstairs in the lounge.

Breakfast was included in our room rate. On our second morning at the hotel we slept in late, so we assumed we’d missed breakfast. But when were going out just before midday, one of the receptionists offered us breakfast, we could see that everything was all still set up in the dining room. We thought this was very good service. Although we didn’t take her up on the offer of breakfast.
Breakfast was a simple self-service meal. There was sliced white bread, processed cheese spread triangles, processed cheese slices, and tomato. One morning there was sliced ham, another morning a salami type sausage. There was yogurt, fresh fruit, and a sweet pastry of some sort, and a couple of jugs of fruit juice. Coffee was made fresh to order. I had espresso, Laura chose cappuccino, both were very good.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Nais Hotel in Durres, Albania.
The staff were professional, helpful, and very friendly.
The hotel was spotlessly clean. We would definitely stay there again.
