FozdeFeszt – Beer Festival Budapest

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

We came, we saw, we drank beer.
On our first full day in Budapest we decided to wander along to the FozdeFeszt which was being held, rather conveniently, only a 10 minute walk from our rental apartment.
We started off the day buying a souvenir t-shirt. You can’t have too many beer t-shirts.
Our first beers of the day were then swiftly ordered. A black beer for Laura and a white beer fro me, from Brandecker sorfozde. Both went down well. While supping our beers, which we shared a little of each, a leaflet was placed on the table about the FozdeFeszt, there was a cider stall listed. My heart skipped a beat with excitement, we made a beeline for the cider stall once our glasses were empty. My heart soon sank when I discovered it was mostly English ciders, with a couple of others added to the mix, all of which I had tried in the past, and none of them so outstanding that I would bother supping in Hungary.
That’s not to say I won’t like English cider, I do. I love it! But it would have been interesting if the cider had been produced in Hungary.
Giving up on cider we continued our beer adventures. Next up was a small glass of Angry Beast at a whopping 12%, and a Freaky Granblanc. The Angry Beast was really good, rich and full of flavour, and heavy.
Half way through drinking the 12% Angry Beast Laura said we should be sensible and eat something. I was sent off to hunt wild beasts to bring back to the table. I returned with a plate of roasted pork knuckle and fat chips. It was a much needed hearty dish to stave off the effects of the beer.
Then it was a couple of beers from Hara Punk. A Pappap O’Hara, a heady porter, and a light beer called Little John.
Next stop was Nobilis Palinka (http://www.nobilispalinka.hu/) for a shot of their blackcurrant Palinka. Very nice.
Full of rocket fuel we then stopped at a stall (ez. sajt.) selling Austrian Cheese where we purchased some 2 year old matured cheese. Seriously tasty.
Next stop was the Zip’s Brewhouse (http://zips.hu/) stall for a glass of ginger infused beer. As we both still have the tail end of colds lingering we thought a bit of healthy ginger seemed a sensible idea. ;d
Then it was the last stop of the day. A glass of Pumkin beer, and a glass of Cherry beer from Gyertyanos Sorfozde. This stall also sold food, we saw a couple of people with hamburgers, but didn’t fancy anything so large, so we opted for a portion of nachos with salsa.
By this time we decided to call it a day, as a much needed siesta was calling.
We thoroughly enjoyed the FozdeFeszt, beer festival. It had a cool relaxed atmosphere, with people of all ages, from babies to pensioners all enjoying the beers – although I don’t think the newborns were imbibing.
We enjoyed the FozdeFeszt so much that, if our livers are up to it, we’re going to go again tomorrow. ;o
