Florence, a dream place to visit in Tuscany

Getting back to Tuscany let me take you for a walk along the streets of it’s capital, Florence. Though very hot in the Summer (it gets to as much as 42/43 degrees Celsius) the city have a perfect way to cool down it’s visitors: an unbelievable variety of delicious ice-creams available in almost all colors and flavors.

Above one of Florence’s landmarks, the Medieval bridged called Ponte Vechio. Like before, still nowadays shops occupy both sides of the old stone bridge – mainly jewelery stores but you can also find some art, small furniture and souvenirs shops and of course an ice cream stand.

Guarding the Piazza della Signoria from the top of his fountain, the ancient Roman God of sea and water, Neptune. Made by the sculptor Bartolomeo Ammannati this fountain is one of the many art pieces present in this area. Also available in this plaza is a copy of Michelangelo’s David as well as the unique set of marble and stone statues present in the adjacent Loggia dei Lanzi.

Finally for now (I’ll be writing a continuation for this one) a view of the Palazzo Vecchio. This palace that hosts Florence’s town hall is visitable and it has much to offer. Beautiful rooms with painted and/or wooden carved ceilings, a fine collection of art pieces and the most fantastic courtyards and patios with amazing stone sculptured columns. Definitively worthy of a visit!
