A Guide to the Best Sports Tours Around

If you love sport and you love travelling then why not combine the two and take advantage of one of the numerous great sporting tours currently on offer. From cricket tours to rugby trips and from golf tours to rally championships, many of these tours are available as a bespoke option.

Rugby Tours
Probably the most popular of all the tours available are those that involve the sport of rugby. Fortunately there are always plenty available and 2013 in particular has more great tours packed in to one year than has been seen in a long time.

Of course there is the RBS Six Nations Championship which as far as sport tours are concerned is perhaps hard to beat. Furthermore, next year’s championship is shaping up to be one of the most exciting we have seen for a long time. In fact for 2013 there is no clear favourite as both the Welsh and the French have been disappointing to say the least recently, whilst the form of the English is patchy at best.

Therefore every team has a pretty equal chance this time around, while the highlight fixtures are still likely to those between the Welsh and the French, which takes place in Paris on Saturday 9th February and between Wales and England being played in Cardiff on Saturday 16th March and which could well turn out to be the championship decider. Whatever happens this is sure to be one of the sport tours of a lifetime.

Alternatively 2013 also sees another British Lions tour, which this year is set to take place in Australia. Under new coach Colin Charvis — the former Welsh captain and Lions regular — the British Lions will be hoping to go one better than they did in South Africa where they marginally lost out in the three-test series.

The tests of 2013 are due to be held in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney respectively and will take place between 19th June and 12th July. Furthermore you could also extend your tour to include the Lions v Barbarians match which takes place in Hong Kong at the end of May.

Finally on the rugby front there are two major sevens tournaments planned for 2013, the first in Hong Kong that takes place between 22nd and 24th of March and the second in Moscow which takes place from 28th to the 30th of June.

Cricket
However, if cricket is more your thing then you are in luck, because in 2013 England is due to contest the Ashes again in Australia. The first two tests of the 2013 Ashes tournament are due to be played in Brisbane (28 Nov-2 Dec) and Adelaide (6-10 Dec) respectively. If you plan on seeing the last three tests however, then you will be spending Christmas and the New Year down under as these tests are planned for Perth, Melbourne and Sydney between 19th Dec and 7th January. Note however, these dates are still just preliminary.

Rally
