Hong Kong, the City Lights that Never Sleeps

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Who doesn’t know about Hong Kong? Hong Kong is one of the top three destinations “must” to visit in Asia. Hong Kong is a fast moving country which depends on shipping industry, foreign investments and tourism. So far, Hong Kong is the only country without incurring taxes on shopping goods thus, it’s the heaven of shopping for the locals and tourists there.

Although Cantonese is the main and official language in Hong Kong, the locals are able to converse in Mandarin and English as well. There are many foreign residents working and staying in Hong Kong thus, they don’t encounter problems of searching their home food or international food over there.

I feel, Hong Kong is more appropriate to call as “the city that never sleeps.” Although shopping malls open until 10pm every day, the street markets are operating until the wee hours in the morning such as Jade Street Market, Ladies Market, Sneakers Street, Temple Night Market Street, Goldfish Market, Flower Market and many more which offer souvenirs, fashionable clothing, bags, toys, cute stuff etc. Apart from that, the nightlife in Hong Kong is also popular along the street of Lan Kwai Fong where the locals and tourists partying and drinking over there.

It’s very safe walking on the streets of Hong Kong in the day or night as Hong Kong city is well-known for the lowest crime rates in Asia. You will find many police officers patrol every corner of the streets, around the clock which give the locals and tourists some sense of safety and security on the streets. According to Wikipedia, Hong Kong Police Force is one of the largest disciplined service which ranked as the world’s second while Asia’s first to operate with a modern policing system. Hong Kong Police Officers are also known for being friendliness. They are willing to guide you with directions.

As for me, this was my first trip to Hong Kong which was my fortunate to celebrate the first fireworks celebration at Tsim Sha Tsui and Star Ferry Terminal, after 15 years of Hong Kong Handover to China on 1st July 2012.
