First Travels of 2013
Since my final planned trip of 2012 was such a bust which you can read about here, I couldn’t wait to remedy things in 2013 with my first travels of the new year. Although I would have loved to have hopped on a plane and gone somewhere warm AND exciting, the always present threat of winter weather combined with a lack of direct flights from the Pittsburgh Airport (having to connect obviously decreases the amount of time you actually have at your final destination) has me act a bit more prudently when it comes to planning trips during the winter season.
I decided on Washington D.C. since my last visit there was going on four years ago in addition it’s a doable drive from Pittsburgh for a long weekend. And even though Washington is a city I’ve been a visitor to ever since I was a child, there are still plenty of attractions I had never seen. Luckily this recent trip helped in crossing some of them off of the ‘ol “to-do” list. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t exactly perfect although when I think back to the many hot and humid summer visits to Washington, I suppose temperatures in the 30s and snow flurries aren’t so bad after all.
Posts and pictures will be coming soon but for now a sneak preview:
