2013 February Travel: California, USA – The Tech Museum of Innovation
I was a kid again having my field trip at The Tech Museum of Innovation. This is very similar with our own Mind Museum. I was checking my blog if I’ve already posted my experience at the Mind Museum but sad to say, I haven’t composed it yet. Oh well, here’s a peek of what’s inside this amazing building.

We were fortunate that my aunt has a free pass to the museum. They have an IMAX & Museum Gallery entrance fee of $20 but if you just want to see the Museum only, you only pay $15.
The tickets for the Museum and the IMAX
On the day of our visit, there was a promo from the Bank of America (I think) credit card. All card holders are entitled for a free entrance during that day. Just present an ID and the credit card and you’re all set.

The first thing we did was to watch the Educational IMAX Movie: The Flight of the Butterflies. It was an amazing documentary about Monarch butterflies and their migration on Earth. It was actually a true story and the scientists who led the research were acknowledged by the Canadian government and were credited as “one of the greatest natural history discoveries of our time.”
After the movie, it’s our time to explore and see the galleries and the museum. We first went to the under ground where you can see The Tech Studio where you can have a hands-on experience of different things.

The weight on the Moon and Mars can also be figured out through their weighing scales.
A cool Jet Pack Simulator is also available. This will let you experience how the astronauts walk or glide on the outer space.

The Japanese innovation to survive the tsunami was also incredible. They thought of creating what they call “Noah Tsunami Rescue Capsule“. This was invented after the heartbreaking 2011 tsunami disaster in Japan. This is made of fiberglass and can float and be with the waves if tsunami would struct again. Cool huh?

Other hands-on applications can be seen and experienced first hand. There is also a dictionary of netspeak languages that we usually see when we chat or commonly known as text/SMS languages.

After that we proceed to the 2nd floor where more Science gallery can be seen. I even tried giving a speech like Senators do! hahaha!

There were Social Circles and faces as well as how sound can be produced when combined with other instruments.

I also tried their Robot Artist where your photo would be taken and the robot will draw you according to the image sent to her.
