Planning my 2013 Summer Vacation – For September!

You can say whatever you want about the joys of parenthood, but for a life-long childless person such as myself, I look forward to the day when the little tykes head back to school and I can get ready for MY summer vacation.

Not only can I plan my vacation for the time of year that suits my schedule, I can benefit from some fantastic rate drops that often enable me to vacation with a bit more luxury than I could afford during the high rate days of the year.

September 2012 I headed to Asheville, North Carolina – catching about the best rate week of the year AND also finding decreased traffic, crowds, and noise for my little getaway. This has been a stressful year for me thus far. I’m heading south, need a rest, and I have just a few requirements:

1. Quiet
2. Luxurious
3. Spa-pampering availability
4. Convenient (no passports/visas required)

I think I’ve identified the PERFECT escape for my 2013 vacation and the destination is Little Palm Island – Florida.

I’ll be staying in one of only 30 cabanas/suites which should limit the crowd and noise factors. I’ll have access to the SpaTerre – where I can take advantage of the:

++ 80 minute anti-aging facial (I’ll take 2 of these!)
++ Express manicure/pedicure
++ Scalp and nourishing hair treatment

I’ll lie on the beach and listen to the quiet and then in the evenings, will return to my little thatched-roof home-away-from-home, and probably sleep like a baby!

Will this be inexpensive? “Expense” is such a relative term, I can’t answer except for myself. What I do know is that I can time my vacation to pay anywhere from $100 – $200 less per night than those who venture here mid-summer. So, “expense” be damned – I’m saving money and I NEED a vacation!
