I couldn’t forget the beauty of the city and the friendliness of the local people in Hanoi, Vietnam. It was unforgettable for me, being the first time traveling to Hanoi and received a good impression of the places and people over there. We were told that the mentality and culture from the North (i.e Hanoi city) and South (i.e Ho Chi Minh city) of Vietnam are totally different since, they were occupied by Vietnamese and French respectively. The locals in the North region of Vietnam like, Hanoi deveop the typical Asian and Chinese mentality where they spend thrifty for the sake of their children’s future and education while, the locals from the South region of Vietnam like, Ho Chi Minh spend lavishly in order to enjoy luxury lifestyle.
I hadn’t been to Ho Chi Minh city but I believe it would leave disappointment in myself after receiving bad remarks from my friends’ trips experience in Ho Chi Minh. I really enjoyed my one week trip in Hanoi as I loved the friendliness of the locals who didn’t harassed the tourists to purchase souvenirs. They respected my decisions and walked away when I showed no interest to buying their products.
Hanoi is still a developing city but it also shows some laid-back lifestyle among the locals there. There aren’t many foreign businesses like, fast food industries, shopping malls and hotels in Hanoi yet. Most of the businesses are run and occupied by the locals in terms of food, hotels, tour industry and craftsmanship. If you haven’t experienced the laid-back lifestyle in a small town like, Hanoi then, you should try it. You will really appreciate the relaxing and easy lifestyle compared to the stressing and hectic lifestyle in the city.
