Ex Patriot, How we Survive in Costa Rica. dr Meno's Tour of His Front Yard.
Something different. I give you a tour of my front yard living in Costa Rica. We look at several trees that I can live on. Avocados, Water Apples, pineapples, coconuts, Noni, papaya, We discover a Green Orb spider, an iguana, cicadas, strange type of worm, a Blue and Gold Macaw, bats, and a crane. We walk through his un kept garden.
He talks about his kids managed through school. Entering in the 4th and 5th grades. All the way through high school. And presently attending college. How the school system here is 2 years ahead of the USA.

An friend of mine’s father owns “Tres Palmas” in Costa Rica and “Coconuts on the Beach” in Cocoa Bch, Florida. Lisa Artz bartended at Coconuts for years and finally moved to Costa, a place she’d been many times, to manage her fathers resort there in 2011. She was so excited — very active lifestyle, surfer, fishing, anything in the sun and water.
She had to let some of the staff go when she arrived, now that she would be there herself living on the resort full time. Well, not long after her arrival she was murdered…strangled in her bed at 49 years old. Of course former staff were under suspicion, but not arrested. Her father hired an American detective to see what he could dig up but there were many roadblocks. Eventually there were arrests tied to electronics stolen from her…may they rot in hell… (story and pic of Lisa below)

On another Costa note — A Warlock (biker gang) buddy of mine, Phil-Z, was going to open a Harley Davidson store in Costa, and for a time I was hoping I may be moving there to help run the business. But, he bailed when he found out the government requires business owners have (if memory serves correct) a ratio of 4-1 native Costa Ricans to non-natives when running a business. Further research found it difficult to find the qualified staff he needed within the “required” locals, so he said.
Truth is I’d move to Costa in a heartbeat. I’ve never been, but have many friends that go there ofter — mostly to surf.
On a side note: Phil-Z was on last summers Discovery Channel show “Warlocks Rising”…he was the main character of the Cocoa Beach segments. I can tell you I’ll never believe any so-called “reality” show as this one was ridiculously scripted, though presented as factual. Surprise surprise, I know

Hi MileHiLife. Thanks for your comment. I am familiar with that story of your friend. It was big news here. I am in th ePacific southern zone too. There are lots of drugs floating through that area. There might of been a situation where Lisa upsetter a trafficking group engaged in some illicit activity. Life is good soon here, BUT you need to be careful who you are dealing with.
