#Selfie Boom: The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly [#Infographic]

The widespread usage of social media makes it easy for trends to become popular fast. This is most recently evidenced by the selfie epidemic – the photo taking fad widely beloved by preteens, teens, and young adults alike. Facebook and Instagram are the perfect platforms for millions of selfies to be uploaded everyday, with users hoping to receive likes and positive feedback from their following.

Sure, the trend seems like another passing phase with no harmful repercussions, but when left unchecked, there are many potentially negative issues that can take root. Things like an obsession with self and narcissism are just a few of the drawbacks associated with the repeated use of selfies. Is this a trend that should be banned from social media? Only time will tell.
