Halloween In New Orleans

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Halloween In New Orleans isn’t just for kids. The experience is quite different from pretty much everywhere else in the world. From the adult’s only events to the wild and crazy costumes, everyone gets in on the fun on Halloween.

Bourbon Street
There is always something fun happening on Bourbon Street and Halloween is no exception. It can best be described as one big party. Virtually everyone is dressed up in a costume, there is also live entertainment and plenty of liquor to go around. People can be seen dressed up in costumes and partying the night away weeks before Halloween even takes place.

Voodoo Music Experience
The Voodoo Music Experience consists of a handful of stages with live musical performances. This year attendees can see Flambeau perform. In addition to the entertainment there are also other activities going on including the Bingo! Parlor and various local acts. This event runs from October 31-November 2nd.

Haunted Bars and Haunted Hotels
If what you are really after is to experience a ghost or two, then all you need to do is visit some of the local bars or hotels while in New Orleans. There are quite a few of them that supposedly are haunted. Here are the more well-known ones.

Vampires Ball:

The Vampire’s Ball is an exquisite, yet dark masquerade ball. This is one of the biggest Halloween events in the world. There is a fashion show, as well as a costume contest. People come from all over the world to dress up and have fun at the ball. The Vampire’s Ball takes place at the House of Blues on November 1st at 9 p.m. and ends on November 2nd at 4 a.m.

Molly’s Market Parade
This parade features mostly people that are walking through the French Quarter, dressed in a costume. There are a few small floats, but it is mostly about showing off each individual’s creativity. This event is free and starts on Halloween at 6 p.m. and everyone is welcome to attend it. However, it might not be suitable for children because there are bound to be some racy costumes.

Bars
Alibi Bar
Legend has it that a man was stabbed to death at this bar some years back. Individuals claim that they have seen knives fly to the floor, eerie shadows and child slaves.

Lafitte’s Blacksmith’s Shop
This is supposed to be one of the most haunted bars in New Orleans. Customers have reported feeling taps on their shoulders and have seen imagines of spirits in a mirror upstairs. Lights are also known to turn themselves off and on.

Pat O’Brien’s
Many unexplained things have happened at Pat O’Brien’s. Footsteps can be heard when there is no one walking around. Customers also have felt the presence of spirits while they were climbing the stairs to the restroom. It’s so bad in fact that employees will not go up to the third floor alone.

Hotels
The Provincial
This hotel used to be a Confederate hospital. Individuals have reported seeing confederate soldiers walking around. Blood stains appear and disappear on some of the beddings with no explanation.

The Columns Hotel
The former owners of this hotel are who inhabit this place. A well-dress man, who is disembodied, can be seen wandering the hotel. A ghostly woman that is all dressed in white hangs out in the garden and ballroom as well.

Dauphine Orleans
Doors mysteriously get locked from the inside at Dauphine Orleans. The spirit of a man in military uniform walks around the courtyard. Many guests report feeling like they are being watched even when no one is around.

Would you like to have an encounter with a ghost or dress up in an outrageous costume without feeling like you stand out? If so then New Orleans is the place to visit on Halloween. As you can see there are plenty of things to do even for adults in this city on or around October 31st. Don’t miss out on all the fun!
