Plated invited me to experience restaurant quality dining at home with their chef approved, unique recipes delivered straight to my door. Plenty of competing delivery meal services abound, but Plated stands apart from the competition by delivering “meal kits” containing high quality, fresh ingredients to allow YOU to prepare unique, restaurant quality dishes you’ll probably rarely or never prepare at home.

The Plated order and delivery process is pretty simple. Sign up for Plated, pick the available recipes from the menu on the day you plan to cook, and wait for the package to arrive on the designated date filled with fresh pre-chopped, prepped ingredients. For the price of a mid-range priced restaurant meal (around $60), you’ll be able to feed two people per recipe. We received enough fresh ingredients for four meals out of the two chosen recipes. Plated not only sent the ingredients and recipe instructions, but you’ll get handy recipe sheets showing what they should look like when cooked and plated like a culinary ninja (Hint: My husband and I are NOT culinary ninjas, so the plating looks horrible interesting).

The Plated menu, for the designated date we decided, had an ample variety of dishes to choose from, so I decided to order the Mushroom Beef Patties with Millet Pilaf for my carnivorous, mushroom-loving husband and Quinoa-Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms over Wilted Spinach, because it seemed like an interesting dish. I’m also a huge fan of mushrooms and spinach, so the dishes were a win-win. Bear in mind I never factor my daughter into new cooking experiences, because she’s too picky and would have hated anything on the menu. I always offer what I prepare to her, and we let her try both of the Plated meals. Her obvious dislike in her crunched up face had me reaching into the fridge for leftovers for back-up for her. Maybe she’ll have a “Plated appreciative palate” as she gets older. The Mushroom beef patties look ugly but tasted DELICIOUS!

Let me back up a little, though, to share a few other pertinent, impressive details about the Plated recipe delivery service. When I received the packages, I loved the efficient, eco-friendly packaging. The ice packs, thermal insulation, and Green Bags kept all the ingredients amazingly fresh, and I loved the idiot-proof pre-labeled, pre-measured items. The recipes were easy to follow and read, but I can’t express the importance of  reading the directions in their entirety.
