Explore the Elements Photo Contest Winners

It was a fun job being one of the judges in the Thomas Cook Explore the Elements photo contest. Looking through so many entires to quite some time but in the end there was a clear choice for both the Water division that I was judging and the overall winner of the awesome £5000 travel fund.

I want to offer my heartfelt congratulations to all the lucky winners!

Thanks also to everyone who took the time to enter the contest. There were hundreds of beautiful photographs to sort out and it wasn’t an easy task making final decisions on the Water category. In the end though, originality and the unique nature to the water photograph by Marius Vieth’d stood out from the crowd for me.

WATER

The photo is haunting, mysterious, and my imagination runs wild with countless possible stories to go along with this aerial photograph. The colours in the photograph and the modern sleek lines make me think of a time far in the future. Who is this man in the photo? Where is this futuristic place?

I honestly can’t thing of one thing that I don’t like about the image. So bravo to Marius for his stunning take on the Water theme!

A stunning series of images from Motaz Alnahdy made him the judges favourite for his overall interpretations of the four categories. Our grand prize winner showed some serious photographic skills combined with artistic vision. Every image stands out in its own right as a winner but when you put them all together as an ensemble, for me, it was a slam-dunk win.
