Sarawak Hidden Gems 2015 - Mulu Marriot Resort & Spa

If you want to enjoy the wonders of nature in Mulu and yet come home to the luxuries of a 5 star hotel, then Mulu Marriot Resort would be your only choice in Mulu. Previously called Royal Mulu Resort, the hotel has come under Marriot management after an extensive renovation. The architecture is based on traditional vernacular design, but the interiors are all you would expect in a 5 star hotel.

The reception and lounge areas are housed in 3 open pavilions. These are not air-conditioned, but in Mulu the weather is usually much cooler then in the city so it is quite pleasant.

The accommodation blocks look basic on the outside, but inside is very well appointed.

The swimming pool is a nice place to relax after a long day of trekking in the caves and jungle.

The facilities include a large all-day-dining cafe, a function hall, well equipped gym and spa. I enjoyed the food at the cafe which serves a mix of local and international dishes. Its a hidden luxurious paradise in the jungles of Borneo.
