The Best Outdoor Holiday Light Displays

An extravagant outdoor holiday light display can really get you into the holiday spirit. Many parks and natural wonders are even lighting it up this holiday season. Here are some of the top places in the United States where you can see some of the best holiday lights.

Niagara Falls
Each year Niagara Falls becomes even more breathtaking when they host the Winter Festival of Lights. It features over three million Christmas lights as well as around 120 different animated displays. The lights and displays can be found on a four-mile portion of Ontario’s Niagara Parkway. The falls even get in on the action as they are also lit up and on certain weekends there’s even a fireworks display.

Hubbard Park
Located in Hubbard Park in Meriden, Connecticut, The Festival of Silver Lights features 200,000 white lights and around 300 different animated displays. Each year close to 100,000 cars drive through the park, which is free to get into. This annual event started in 1988 and has grown substantially since then.

Seneca Creek State Park
This year is the 20th anniversary of the Winter Lights at Seneca Creek State park. It features 3.5 miles of lights and holiday attractions. In total there are around 400 different illuminated displays on hand. There are different themed areas that include the North Pole, Winter Woods, Victorian Village and Teddy Bear Land. It is currently open now through December 31.

Bayfront Festival Park
This light display has been called the largest free walk through light display in America. Located in Bentleyville, Minnesota, visitors can walk through the 20-acre park to see more than 4 million lights. Visitors can also enjoy complimentary roasted marshmallows, popcorn cookies and of course, hot cocoa to keep warm while on the stroll. Rudolph, Santa and Mrs. Claus are also normally on hand to take pictures with.

Shore Acres State Park
Located in Coos Bay, Oregon, this park comes to life during the month of December with their massive lights display. This tradition started 29 years ago with just 6,000 lights and a Christmas tree. Today it has grown to more than 325,000 lights, 30 Christmas trees and dozens of other decorations. When it first started there were less than 10,000 visitors. Today there are more than 50,000 visitors that attend this event each year.
