Visiting Ireland in September

September is an excellent time of year to visit Ireland. Peak tourist season for Ireland is in July and August, so September is a good month to go if you want to avoid crowds and busy hotels.

Ireland Weather in September:  Bear in mind that September is one of Ireland’s rainier months, so you’ll want to be sure to pack rain gear, umbrellas, and boots. However, rain aside, the temperature is typically mild and predictable year round. September rain is usually misty and interspersed with periods of sunshine, so don’t worry about wet weather stopping you from doing anything you want to do while you’re there. There are plenty of things to enjoy in Ireland in September.

• Dublin Theatre Festival. This year’s Dublin Theatre Festival begins on September 29th and ends October 16. This festival was first held in 1957 and is the oldest theater festival in Europe. The main stage productions and special events of the Festival are definitely worth taking the time to discover.
• Other festivals include the Waterford Harvest Festival Sept 9th-11th; Clifden Art Festival Sept 14-25th; Galway International Oyster and Seafood Festival Sept 23th-25th and the Irish Hot Air Balloon Championships from Sept 18th -23rd in Waterford.
