Best Time To Travel Is Right Before The Storm

Experts predict a slightly more active hurricane season in 2016. While this is something to keep in mind, it should not dampen your travel plans.

That old adage about quite before the storm holds up in terms of frugal and great vacations. If you can wait out the peak time to take a vacation, you can get some great deals on warm destinations before the hurricane season hits. This is usually the time between the end of summer and the first couple of months of the start of school. It is what recently been called the shoulder season. Shoulder season is the time between the busiest travel season and the off-season when hotels and other travel expenses are moderate and the weather is manageable.

RoamRight – get travel insurance in case your trip gets interrupted or canceled

The travel season depends also on your destination. In India, for example, you’d probably rather avoid monsoon season, which occurs in the summer.
Mexico in the summer is an especially ideal time to visit when all-inclusive hotels and several airlines slash rates. South Florida is also less crowded during the summer months. It’s summertime throughout the U.S., not just in those locations, so most folks are not thinking of getting away to warmer climates, they have them in their backyards. Due to this, many airlines cut routes to the Caribbean from North America for the season. And hotels offer considerably lower rates, and travelers can expect great packages. Some resorts cut their off-season rates by 50 percent or more to attract visitors and fill empty rooms. This is especially true for ski towns like Aspen and Telluride that do a booming business in the winter but may cut rates in warmer seasons.

High season in the Caribbean is from mid-December to mid-April. Low season runs from mid-April to mid-December. These days it is known as the shoulder season. A travel period between peak and off-peak seasons. Because it is a less popular time to travel, you are likely to save more money due to supply and demand, where supply outnumbers the demand. You might be able to get more luxurious accommodations for the same amount of money you would spend on vacation. And due to these plus savings mentioned above, you will have more cash to spend at your destination. You may be able to afford to eat out more, attend more shows, visit more attractions or even add an extra location to your itinerary.

Other major perks of traveling during the off or shoulder season:

You’ll encounter fewer crowds. Spending your vacation waiting in line during high season is neither relaxing nor a good use of your time and money.

You may have more time and opportunity to talk to and ask questions of the locals. When they aren’t harried by the massive groups of tourists, you may get more personalized attention and better travel tips from the locals.

Get pictures of major attractions without huge crowds. When we were in Italy and took a trip to Pisa, the day started out cloudy. When we got to the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa, it started to rain. The rain was light, but a lot of people either stayed away or left to get indoors. We stayed out as we were prepared with an umbrella and rain cover. I was able to climb up the steps inside the tower without anyone there. (Good thing, since they were small and sleek) Get to the roof, walk all the way around, wave and take pictures of my wife on the ground while she was taking pictures of me at the top. For about half hour, one of the most famous and busiest attractions in the world was free for us to roam. The rain stopped after 30 minutes and the crowds returned almost instantaneously.

I especially really love international travel BUT with the proverbial shit just about to hit the fan I wouldn’t be doing any international travel especially right now until (or unless) things calm down !!! Hopefully after the first of this next year things WILL calm down and we can all feel better but at this point I doubt it . I wouldn’t want to be on vacation somewhere and get stuck (especially in a foreign country with limited options and a finite amount of money) ! Travel deals will still be there and so will anywhere that you want to travel to so why not just wait a little while and be SAFE rather than really Sorry if the shit DOES hit the fan ?!!!
