(Before It's News)

Whether you’re planning a staycation or simply fancy popping to the seafront for a bag of chips and a stick of rock – you may be wondering where the best coastal amusement arcades are for spending your loose change. Flashing lights, the sound of 2ps cascading out of game machines and attempting to win a plastic keyring or fluffy toy have become synonymous with a UK holiday, so if you fancy a break from playing cards or online bingo – here’s where you can put your gaming skills to the test:

Ingoldmells, Skegness
A coastal village nestled in the heart of Skegness, Ingoldmells has everything you may wish for and more, from caravan sites and donkey rides to some of the best entertainment centres around, including Bells Amusement Arcade and BJ’s Leisure and Big Top Showbar.

Mablethorpe, Skegness
From one small Skegness seaside town to another, Mablethorpe offers the best of British fun including chippies, buckets and spades, pop-up fairgrounds, painted beach huts and wall-to-wall arcades – particularly The Mirage which promises all-round family entertainment.

Blackpool piers
What better place to enjoy some traditional, old-school fun than Blackpool? Complete with log flumes, carousels, dodgems and arcades which include an adult gaming zone, you won’t be disappointed at this famous seaside destination.

Bridlington, Yorkshire
Feel the need for a good ole’ northern day out? Then look no further than Bridlington. The town’s blue flag beach is certainly a talking point as is the Nautical Mile – a promenade of architectural delights including sculptures, modernist beach huts and artwork by Bruce McLean – but you’ll also find some pretty great amusement arcades such as the Taylor Made Fun Arcade.

Weston-Super-Mare
There are many fantastic arcades across the world, but if you want to stay put in the UK, don’t miss the arcades at Weston-Super-Mare. There are many to choose from here, but an all-time favourite with locals and holidaymakers alike has to be the Golden Gate.

Weymouth
With boat-shaped cafes on the beach, comfortable deckchairs and uplighters on the seafront, Weymouth has made a real effort to go upmarket of late. The shiny new Sea Life Tower is a real highlight but if you want to indulge yourself with a spot of gaming at the end of a busy day, head to The Sands Arcade or Fantasy Island Fun Park.

Margate
Not far from the cobbled streets of Canterbury which also makes for a sensational day out, Margate offers a wealth of fun for all ages with its long sandy beaches being a real talking point as well as its numerous coastal arcades including The Flamingo, Dreamland and Cains Amusements.

Ilfracombe, Devon
Located on the north Devon coast, Ilfracombe is a top holiday destination for families, with golden beaches and entertainment complexes such as Harbour Amusements and Sunspot Amusements offering great fun for all ages.

Cornwall
Cornwall naturally attracts sea lovers and surfers alike thanks to its wonderful beaches, but once you’re done building sandcastles or riding the waves don’t miss Carousel Amusements for plenty of arcade excitement – you may even win a cuddly toy to take home with you.

Bognor Regis, Sussex
A traditional seaside town in West Sussex, Bognor Regis is well worth a trip, with Butlins offering plenty of organised activities for both children and adults alike. The numerous swimming pools, beaches and arcades will keep you busy for hours, so why not see for yourself what all the fuss is about.

Brighton
With its winding streets, quirky shops and sensational coastline, Brighton is one of those must-see places with its unmissable pier being a particular highlight. Here, you’ll find numerous food outlets and fairground rides as well as the notorious Palace of Fun arcade which houses a wide array of games to enjoy.

Britain is home to a wealth of top coastal locations crammed full of exhilarating amusement arcades, with the above certainly being ten of the best.
