Android Wear 2.0 has been released and will be hitting most devices in the next few weeks. And it is a great news for all wearables, not just Android based devices. It is also a great new innovation for travel since it has some new tricks
With Android Wear 2.0 your watch no longer needs your phone
» This is huge for travel as you will not need to take out your phone for many tasks
» You now have access to a dedicated Android Wear Play Store on your wrist.
» Your smartwatch is now much more functional when traveling
» For Android Wear watch owners who also happen to have iPhones, this would be a great update since you can now download apps straight to the watch
» Similar to Siri and Amazon’s Alexa, the assistant will be built into the OS
» Voice-based commands on your watch
» With it, users are able to respond to messages, ask for directions, search the Internet, and set reminders on their devices
» To use you would need to long-press the power button on your watch to activate Assistant
» You are now able to view multiple data from different third-party apps on the watch face
» You can preset your favorite faces and swipe from the existing watch face to access them on the go
» Different face for different environment: work, exercise, or at home
» Android Wear 2.0 has new input methods
» A small keyboard can be swiped to let you type out messages
» Handwriting recognition will let you draw single letters or join words to send messages.
» Currently only available on NFC enabled smartphones
