Europe In Bloom
With the winter starting to let up in Europe, flowers will be in bloom as soon as the beginning of March. There’s no better way to rid yourself of the wintertime blues than by seeing some of the phenomenal blooms. These are some of the best places to see Europe in bloom.
Tulips In Holland
The first few tulip blooms can be visible in Holland in the first few weeks of March. They consist of many colors including magenta and gold. There are quite a few different places to see tulips in this country. However, if you are looking to see an abundance of them at one time, Keukenhof Park is home to more than seven million flowers. It’s located only around 40 minutes from Amsterdam. While in Holland make sure to stop along the roadside to visit some of the Dutch windmills as well.
Poppies In Tuscany
Poppies begin blooming in Tuscany at the end of April. The best places to see them are in the countryside. They’re easy to spot as they are a bright red color. In particular, Val d’Orcia, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a great place to see them with its hilltop. It’s located just south of Sienna.
Daffodils In England
England is full of beautiful flowers, especially daffodils. The Cotswold’s area has many elaborate displays of them. They complement the historic houses perfectly. They are so beautiful in fact that visitors from all over the world come just to see them. The best time to visit England to see the daffodils is during the months of March and April
Numerous Flowers In Mainau Island, Germany
This island is located south west of Germany. It features an Arboretum that is more than 150 years old. Numerous flowers can be found here including close to a million tulips, roses, dahlias, perennials and rhododendrons. Another thing worth marveling at is the massive sequoias.
Monet Gardens In France
Located in Giverny, France the Monet Gardens became possible thanks to Claude Monet. He lived in Giverny for 43 years. While there he cultivated flower gardens and mixed popular flowers with rare varieties. In addition to the numerous daisies and poppies, there are also hollyhocks, annuals and roses. The best times to go to the gardens to see the flowers in bloom is during the summer months. However, it is open March through October. If visiting here, keep in mind that you will need tickets and it’s best to buy them online to avoid long wait times.
