Thanks to movies like “Night At The Museum”, a lot of individuals have dreamed of getting to spend a night at one of their favorite museums. Fortunately, this is about to become a reality. The American Museum of Natural History will be hosting adult’s only sleepovers. For instance a couple of days in the very near future. This might just be the ultimate sleepover if you’d like to participate in.  That would only be if you don’t get creeped out at the possibility of the museum coming alive at night that is.

The Details

Those 21 and over can spend the night in the museum on either May 5 or June 30. However, this isn’t the ordinary sleepover that you may remember as a kid. The evening kicks off with a champagne reception and music in the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Hall. Guests can then enjoy a buffet dinner along with beer or wine. Afterwards they can visit the various halls of the museum as practically nothing is off limits and all of the public halls will be open. They can also watch animal presentations or lectures. Another fun event is the flashlight fossil fact finding tour. Guests will be given a late night snack as well. For those that get sleep, can rest down on a cot or in their own sleeping bag in the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life, right under the 94 foot long blue whale. Guests are not required to sleep though and it’s actually a great time to hang around and explore everything there is to see while others have gone to bed. In the morning, they are also given a light breakfast. Approximately 200 people can participate in the sleepover.

Other Things To Consider

The events starts at 6:30 p.m. and ends at 9 a.m. Guests are also permitted to stay and roam through the museum the next day. If guests enjoyed the overnight sleepover and it just simply wasn’t enough. The cost is $300 for museum members and $350 for non-members. It’s important to note that guests can not bring their own food or beverages so they have to eat whatever the museum serves them, whenever they serve it. There are vending machines available on the lower level for those that want to grab a snack or a beverage. For many, it is worth the sacrifice as individuals get to see exhibits like “Mummies” without a large crowd hanging around.
