West Palm to Key West Flights Start May 25

Many of us who have lived in the West Palm Beach area know the agony of trying to get to the Keys. The torture of having to deal with traffic in Miami is enough to keep us from wanting to drive down to this beautiful area. It could take 4 to 5 hours to get from West Palm to Key West depending on the time of day and traffic.  All of that is about to change thanks to a new flight that will be taking passengers from West Palm Beach to Key West.

Here’s what we know so far about the West Palm to Key West flights:

The flight will be offered starting on May 25 and it will be nonstop On Silver Airways. Flights will be available everyday except for Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Passengers will fly on the 34 seat Saab 340B Plus turboprop aircraft. The flight will get you there in about 1 hour and 20 minute.  Fares will start at $89 per person. Despite not being a well known airline, Silver Airways does offer flights from West Palm Beach to Tallahassee, Nassau and Bimini.  There are no change fees for changing dates as long as you are still going to the same location. If you call rather than book online, there is a $25 per customer reservation fee or $35 pp if you book at the airport.  Baggage fees apply.

The Best Times To Go To Key West

While many think that there really isn’t a bad time to go to Key West, some times are better than others.

December-February

This is one of the best times to visit Key West and also one of the most expensive ones. However, the weather is great and there’s no threat of a hurricane. Popular events include the Pirates of Paradise that occurs anywhere from late November to early December, Key West Race Week, Key West Literary Seminar and the Key West Food & Wine Festival that all occur during the month of January.

March-May

This is considered to be the best time to visit Key West. While still busy, the crowds aren’t as bad as the previous months and the hotel rates can be reasonable. Popular activities include the ConchFest in March, Conch Republic Independence Celebration and the Taste Of Key West which both are in April and the Key West Songwriter’s Festival in May.

June-August

The summer time is the rainy season for the Keys. However, many visitors still travel here as room rates can be greatly discounted due to the chances of soggy weather. PrideFest Key West, which occurs in June, brings many tourists to the area.

September-November

This is the peak of hurricane season in the south. Great deals can be found during these months for the brave tourist. There are a few popular events that take place here during this time including Key West Brewfest in September and Fantasy Fest in October.
