Delta Just Made An Announcement That Will Make Some Travelers Very Happy

It seems that airlines are doing everything that they can to cut costs, yet ticket prices seem to keep going up. When an airline makes an announcement, many travelers cringe as they think it means that they have figured out another way to charge them more, but give them less. Surprisingly, Delta just made an announcement that some travelers are actually happy about. Here are all of the exciting details.

Enhanced Meal And Beverage Service

Travelers certainly don’t fly for the food. Unless you are in first class you would be lucky to get a small snack that really isn’t all that enjoyable. Delta will now be offering an enhanced meal and beverage service on certain airlines for its economy class passengers. For now it’s still in its testing phase and is only being offered on some of its international flights. These flights are for those flights that will be traveling between Portland and Tokyo.

Items Included

Surprisingly the options included with this new meal and drink service sound pretty good. Passengers can expect to be able able to choose items from a printed menu. They will be able to enjoy a three course dinner and dishes may include things like salads with roasted grapes and ice cream for dessert. Drinks are also getting an upgrade with Prosecco being an option. In order to make it feel more elegant, passengers will be given large dinner napkins and revamped plastic tableware that looks pretty sleek.

What This Means For Other Airlines

Revamped meal options for economy class customers could prove to change things across the entire airline industry. A lot of airlines don’t like to be one upped by their competitors. If Delta’s enhanced meal and beverage service is a hit among passengers, we could see other airlines rolling out similar options for their economy class customers. While we don’t know of any similar offerings yet, we wouldn’t be surprised if other airlines make a an announcement soon about additional meal offerings.

If all goes as expected, Delta may offer this service on every international flight by the end of 2018. There’s no word yet is something similar might be offered on domestic flights also. Still though this could prove to be just what Delta needs in order to gain an edge over its competitors as far as international flights go.
