Chinese Year of the Pig 2019

There’s a lot to look forward to next year if you’re a Pig during year of the earth Pig 2019! I gotta say that as I read over what I just typed, I can’t help but think about those of you who have yet to get into the Chinese Zodiac and its twelve designated animals. I mean, “what’s this guy talking about? Who’s he calling a pig? lol!!” Well, for those of you who do not know what I’m referring to, here’s a little history about the Chinese Zodiac and its 12 animals…

How Old Is The Chinese Zodiac

Before we get started; though, in case you were about to ask, “how old is the Chinese Zodiac?”, we really don’t know… In fact, no one does. What we do know; however, is that the Han Dynasty, which was the second Imperial Dynasty or prominent family of China was already using it. This alone puts the zodiac at over 2,200 years old! Contrary to popular opinion, the zodiac we are accustomed to, derived from Greek teachings via Chinese Astrology and not the other way around.

History Behind the Chinese Zodiac

The history behind the Chinese Zodiac is an accumulation of facts, legend, and myths… The Chinese Zodiac was utilized to determine a person’s birth year, and every animal in the Chinese Zodiac stood for every year in its twelve year cycle… Legend has it that the great Buddha invited some animals to participate in a race spanning the length of the Yangtze. The first to cross the river would appear on the Chinese Zodiac. The first to make it across was the Rat, followed by the Buffalo (Ox), Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and last but not least, the Pig. There’s also a myth that the Chinese Zodiac is much older than we think. In fact, the myth behind the zodiac states that the Chinese Lunar Calendar precedes Alexander the Great by over two thousand years, again according to myths!

What Does Being One of Any of the 12 Animals in the Chinese Zodiac Mean

So, what does being one of any of the 12 animals in the Chinese Zodiac mean? Well, each of the 12 animals in the Chinese Zodiac mean something different. There’s Personality, Health, Careers, Compatibility, Finances, Luck, and Types to consider, among other variables… Let’s take The Rat for instance – If you or someone you know were born in either 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, or 2008, you, he or she is a Rat. What does it mean to be a Rat, though? Well, your lucky numbers are 2 & 3 and any number containing both (23 or 32) are lucky as well… Your lucky colors are: Blue, Gold & Green. Your lucky flowers are lilies & African violets. Your lucky directions are West, Northwest & Southwest. The Rat’s Personality can be summed up as being Quick-Witted, Resourceful, Versatile, Kind, and Smart. As for Good Health, a balanced diet & regular exercise benefit people under this Chinese Zodiac sign. In fact, a good amount of sleep will always keep your spirits up! Also, during the dry season, Rats need to pay special attention to respiratory & skin disorders.

if you, an adult friend or family member were born on any of the years above and ever wondered why they’re not happy in their career, well there’s a reason for that… The best-suited careers for Rats are in managerial capacities. Also they thrive in being broadcasters, writers, musicians, comedians, politicians, lawyers, researchers, and (if you can believe it…) race car drivers!
The same question can be posed for your ideal mate… First of all, Rats enjoy flexibility when it concerns their social circles; you guys & gals love making new friends! That being said, your perfect match are Oxen, Dragons, and Rabbits. Never Ever End Up With Horses & Roosters!
