3 Unlikely Destinations Making the Top Travel List in 2019

So Rome, Barcelona, Paris and London are usually make the top destinations list each year, but so far in 2019 we have some unexpected destinations drawing travelers.

Matera, Italy
Not a popular tourist destination in the past, Matera is one of the best kept secrets in Italy. This city consists of a network of caves and an interesting area to explore. The caves were thought to be unhygienic and not safe, but the government has taken efforts to change all of this to attract more people to the area. Tourists can stay at one of the unique cave hotels like the Sextantio Le Grotte della Civita if they want a really authentic experience. January 19, there will be the start of a yearlong celebration and there will be a parade and marching bands. For those that want to learn more about the interesting history of this area, the Casa Grotta di Vico Solitario museum houses period furnishings as well as tools that were used to carve out caves. The park of the Rupestrian Churches of Matera is a must see. Namibia, South Africa
South Africa isn’t just filled with desolate landscapes. Namibia is completely different in many respects. St. Barth’s
In the past, St. Barth’s was the place to go for those wanting an unforgettable Caribbean vacation. Unfortunately, this area took quite a hit from several hurricanes. Because this destination relies heavily on tourism for its revenue, the country has worked hard to restore the construction and reconstructive efforts are underway.
