Eliot Spitzer Affair Scandal Henry Paulson Book On Financial Bailout 2008 Relationship

New York, NY – The financial world was brought to its knees in 2008.  The Financial System was in ruin and talk of the capitalist system failing was considered plausible. 

Henry “Hank” Paulson was at the center of the storm as the Secretary of The Treasury of the United States.  His seemingly heroic actions have been cited as a key factor in saving the banking system.

One indirect beneficiary of that Financial Storm was none other than the Former Governor of New York Eliot Spitzer.  Spitzer benefited in that his revelation of an adulterous affair scandal was timed concurrently with the first of the financial storms of 2008, the Bear Stearns bailout in March 2008.

On March 10, 2008 it was revealed that Eliot Spitzer had an affair with a prostitute.  The New York Times revealed that he patronized a call girl service named  Emporers Club VIP.  On March 12, 2008 Spitzer announced his resignation effective March 17, 2008.

At the same time the financial world was completely focused on the Stock Market Collapse and bailout of Bear Stearns on March 16, 2008.  On March 14, 2008 the Federal Reserve arranged for an emergency loan to Bear Stearns to prevent a market crash.  This did not bolster confidence and a hasty buyout was arranged by the Federal Reserve and US Treasury for JPM Morgan to purchase Bear Stearns for $2 per share on Monday, March 17th.
