Fox Verdun (AKA) Eddie W. Verdon Thank you for supporting our effort. We appreciate your interest and hope that you will consider helping us again in the future. Your message has been sent to the following recipients: * Representative Ami Bera
: As your constituent, I am writing today seeking your commitment to oppose any proposed bill, policy or regulation that would restrict veterans’ access to VA’s Individual Unemployability (IU) benefit, particularly, the notions that a veteran’s age should be considered as an eligibility factor and that IU should be offset when veterans are also entitled to receive other earned benefits such as those associated with military compensation and social security.
A hearing regarding IU was held before the House Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee on Disability and Memorial Affairs on July 15, 2015. DAV (Disabled American Veterans) testified at this hearing and raised several substantive concerns with a Congressional Budget Office report dated August 2014 and a Government Accountability Office report dated June 2015.
These reports made destructive recommendations related to continuation of existing IU policy. If these recommendations were put into effect, ill and injured veterans, their dependents and survivors would be placed in significant financial jeopardy. Although no bill has been introduced to implement any of the suggestions highlighted in the reports mentioned above, I ask you to take a proactive position regarding IU.
Please advise me of your position and the actions you intend to take to preserve and safeguard this vitally important benefit.
Sincerely,
Fox Verdun
