Treacherous McCain Throws in With Democrats to Save Obamacare

It was John McCain’s triumphant moment as well as a piece of revenge served up piping hot against his greatest enemy, President Donald Trump.

Shortly after seeing that the Senate put the finishing touches on a Russian sanctions bill with a veto-proof majority, the cancer stricken senator cast the deciding vote that sank the partial repeal of Barack Obama’s signature achievement and giving the Democrats their greatest victory in years.

McCain played off of the drama of his glorious return to Washington after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer to spare Obamacare from intense GOP efforts to rid the country of a monstrosity that has driven up premiums and enabled corporate greed.

As is typical for a self-serving attention whore like McCain, he dragged out the suspense until the wee hours of Friday morning.

Senate Republicans weren’t able to muster enough votes to pass their skinny repeal of Obamacare.

Senators voted 49-51 shortly before 2:00 a.m. Friday morning. Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona) cast a surprise “no” vote. He was joined by GOP Sens. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Susan Collins (Maine).

The bill, titled the Health Care Freedom Act, would have repealed the individual insurance mandate. It would also have repealed the employer mandate for eight years.

GOP leaders and Vice President Mike Pence huddled with McCain, Murkowski and Collins before the vote, which was stalled for nearly an hour.

A few minutes before the vote, McCain crossed the chamber to huddle with Democrats.

McCain’s “no” vote came as a shock to many.

The vote is a devastating blow for Republicans who have fought for months to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act and will likely have to start the process all over again.

“This is clearly a disappointing moment,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said shortly after the final vote tally was called.

It was a running drop kick in the crotch for Mitch McConnell who has found things very tough now that he isn’t carrying water for Barack Obama. He has always been a big-talking fraud and after seven years of promising to repeal Obamacare, couldn’t deliver when the time came to do it.

Were there any honor in the den of thieves that is the U.S. Senate, McConnell would have already performed an act of Seppuku.

President Trump tweeted out his disappointment:

McCain will now be lionized by the press and hailed by Democrats who he will join as he spends the remainder of his days continuing to stick it to Trump until his lifeless corpse is dragged out of the Senate.

He was joined by the two female troublemakers Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski as the only three “Republicans” to vote no.
