President Donald Trump signed the Interdict Act into law Wednesday evening which will aid law enforcement in efforts to stop the flow of opioids into the United States. “This law directs the Department of Homeland Security to provide additional tools and resources to detect and intercept the supply of illicit Fentanyl,” the president told reporters. “In 2016, nearly 20,000 Americans died as a result of using synthetic opioids such as Fentanyl.” Trump shared stories of wrecked families and lost loved ones due to the flood of opioids into the country.
