North Korea vowed to launch a nuclear strike against the U.S. on Thursday, according to an unidentified spokesman for the Pyongyang Foreign Ministry saying North Korea will exercise its right for “a preemptive nuclear attack to destroy the strongholds of the aggressors” after the U.S. threatened to start new UN sanctions against Pyongyang for its recent nuclear tests.

Washington D.C. has infuriated North Korea over the possible sanctions and the upcoming U.S/South Korean drills. Thousands of North Koreans have protested the drills and the sanctions and it is believed that North Korea is ready to face off against “the aggressors”.

The UN Security Council unanimously passed these sanctions againsts North Korea, targeting their secretive nuclear program and their capability to produce warheads small enough to put on a missile capable of reaching the U.S. that is believe to have enough nuclear fuel to hit the west coast of the U.S.

It’s highly uncertain that North Korea is even capable of making a missile that could reach the U.S., North Korea has failed several times to launch long-range missiles in the past, the U.S. calling it a failed yet “provocative act”.

Recently the North Korean government created a propaganda video showing a U.S. city resembling New York under an apparent missile attack. The video was posted on North Korea’s official website, Uriminzokkiri, the video plays Michael Jackson’s “We Are The World” while New York’s Empire State Building is shown in flames. 

“Somewhere in the United States, black clouds of smoke are billowing,”
