War, Terrorism and the Illusion of Free Will

The problem with atrocities is that they, in a very powerful way, twist reality in a manner that promotes absurdity and causes otherwise rationally thinking beings to accept those absurdities as reason. 

In a country of 330,000,000 people where 55,000 die each year just from car crashes, it is absurd to spend hundreds of billions of dollars on a terrorist threat that could at the most kill a few hundred people per year.

Smoking kills 443,000 people each year.  There are 75,000 people who die each year from alcohol-related diseases and alcohol-related accidents.  About 36,000 people die from flu each year.  Police have killed roughly one thousand innocent people each year since 9/11 after we decided to surrender reason to the false belief that police are saving the nation from invading hordes of terrorists.  We have surrendered all privacy in the false belief, a false belief promoted by government, that it could keep us safe from terrorism. 

Far more people die as the result of work-related stress and injuries, and things like foregoing the purchase of brakes and tires because they have to fund a surveillance state that has sucked out so much wealth from the people that they no longer have the means to pay for necessities.  The government has handed over hundreds of billions of dollars to private security agencies for which the government has given 850,000 people top-secret security clearances.  Who have they caught?  Nobody.  What have they done?  Nothing.  Meanwhile thousands of people die due to eating cheap processed foods because they can no longer afford nutritious non-GMO foods.

The East German Stasi never had near the amount of power that the NSA has grabbed.  The CIA has used the NSA to spy on senators and their committees’ investigations into crimes by the CIA and NSA.  The director of the NSA simply acknowledges no limit on his power or limits on the crimes he has given his agency the authority to commit in the name of national security.  There also is no lie too big for an idiot judge to excuse during testimony given by the NSA and CIA to the US Senate or House of Representatives.  The fact is that the US has ceased functioning as a democracy and instead has its society controlled by only five media corporations that control all television, radio and print media outside of what is available in what has become known as the Fifth Estate. 

The Fifth Estate is that name given to non-corporate media that seeks to provide information to Americans to help them cut through propaganda and the thought-controlling limitations on issues of debate.  Not only is debate confined within the issues that corporate media decides to cover, but many issues of debate are simply never allowed to make it into the public’s consciences.  Steering the public’s attention is a powerful method of thought-control but yet an easier trick than those simple card tricks performed by a magician.

A friend of mine once performed a card trick in which he allowed you to pick increasingly smaller stacks of cards until he came up with the card you had selected earlier.  The ruse was that when you picked a stack of cards he was the one that decided if the stack of cards you picked were the ones that were excluded or included in the smaller stack of the next group of cards that would be selected for inclusion or exclusion. Many people never caught on to the scam as he talked and rambled on about useless information to distract your sense of reason.  Yet he controlled all the cards.  So to is it with government.

In short, the point I am trying to make is that the government and corporate media are able to, through all the processes they control, do to the average American all the things that a gruesome display of terror is able to do or that a two-bit magician can do.  Terrorists, media and the government can all take nations to war over lies, can make people accept absurdities as rationality, use propaganda as a means to their ends, use lies and thought-control, and all know they can influence you in a manner that makes you believe you are exercising free will to make what you perceive to be reasonable and independent choices.

The problem with the human mind is that it has no way to accurately comprehend the types of losses governments cause in the form of death and destruction.  We bemoan the fact that ISIS burns a Jordanian pilot to death, but we don’t give much consideration to the tens of thousands of innocent women and children that have been burned alive, had their bodies ripped apart, blinded, amputated and grotesquely disfigured by those who work for the state.

With a decade of torture, assassinations, terror bombing (remember Shock and Awe), with the embargos that, just in the case of Iraq alone, caused the death of over 500,000 children, we accept as perfectly reasonable the government’s excuse that all this must be done to protect our freedoms.  Yet, everywhere we look we see increasing opposition, torture, tyranny, terror, death and destruction.  Everywhere we look, we see politicians heavily invested the police-prison state, the national security-surveillance state and the military-industrial complex as they exhort us to fund increasing levels of liberty-stealing tyranny domestically and hegemonic domination and aggression internationally.

So, while we become emotionally engaged as a result of the death of some reporters that was meant to manipulate us, we need to consider that the same shock we felt that causes us to be driven to war is still only a sliver of what hundreds of family members feel as their wedding and funerals are directly targeted and hundreds of thousands of family members are slaughtered by US bombs because Obama deemed one person present to be a High-Value Target.

We can feel at an emotional and personal level the deaths of a diplomat and a couple of CIA operatives in Libya who were running guns to ISIS rebels, but how can we comprehend the excruciating death of a child dying from a easily cured infection as the result of withholding an antibiotic and then multiply that in our psyche 500,000 times?  Suddenly the deaths become merely a statistic to those who are not losing a beloved child to a painful and extended death from a disease that is easily curable.  Morally, there is little difference between denying a child medicine to cause his death and the US executing 500,000 Iraqi children one at a time in hopes their parents would rise up against Saddam. 

The fact is that our government has waged war on the world and lies every time it opens it mouth.  The fact is that our government wages wars to protect its scams, schemes and rackets.  The fact is we exploit, threaten and intimidate to perpetuate acts that if done to us would entice the entire nation to war.  We lie about the shoot-down of civilian airliners.  We lie about weapons and weapons programs.  We lie about humanitarian interventions.  We lie about torture and assassinations.  We lie about computers and documents.  We lie about government crimes.  We lie about surveillance.  In fact, it is difficult to name some issue in which we do not engage in blatant outright lies that are so absurd and unbelievable that only a propagandized, dumbed-down obsequious populous could stomach such nauseating excuses by obnoxious and self-aggrandizing corrupt politicians engaging in imperial domination.

Politicians and the elites who control those politicians keep placing us in greater and greater danger. These politicians are merely servants of the elite who fund their campaigns.  These people continue to become increasingly richer by placing us in dangers resulting from their push for global domination  by our military, political and economic systems.  As they make the US more and more reviled throughout the world, they then demand more and more tax money to fund the corporations they have made that garner greater and greater profits to supposedly keep us safe from the very enemies they have created as they molest the entire planet.

We have listened to pro-war proponents for so long that we have become poisoned and infected by their lies and rationalizations.  We have given them decades, many trillions of dollars and every tool from torture and assassinations to deprivation and starvation.  We have given them the lives of our children and allowed them to use our children to commit mass murder and genocide, and yet they continue to fail miserably even according to their own terms and standards.

How is it we try to dominate the world militarily and yet can not understand why those who the US has identified as enemies and target with destabilization, subversion, treason, propaganda, military expansionism economic warfare and constant threats of attack continue to band closer and closer together and oppose US domination using increasingly desperate measures? Russia has ten military bases with one in Vietnam, South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Ukraine and Syria.  The US has roughly 1,000 military bases in 120 different countries and  surrounds Russia with US bases that include many former Warsaw Pact nations that the US promised Russia, but lied, would serve as a buffer and not be incorporated into NATO.  In view of this fact alone it is easy to see who the aggressor is.

P.S. Putin laid all his cards on the table regarding the shootdown of  Flight MH17.  When will the US release its satellite video, its radar recordings and its recordings of flight traffic and the MH17 fight recorder and allow Malaysia the right to conduct its investigation that the US has infected while giving Ukraine veto power over the release of all evidence and reports? See how dupicitious the US media has been?  Now the media is suddenly quiet as evidence keeps piling up against the fascist Ukraine government, yet when did it once question the US government’s official narrative?  In fact, where is that questioning even now as the evidence buries the Ukraine government.  The truth has been hid just like all the other crimes against Russian-speaking citizens of Ukraine.
