Columnist Michael Brendan Dowerty opined that Russia’s victory in the special operation in Ukraine could be the second major defeat for the United States after the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan.

He writes about it in an article for National Review .

According to Dowerty, the victory could become even more triumphant for Russia, given the efforts of America to create additional costs for the country.

‘Vladimir Putin (President of Russia. – RT ) will be able to announce that he won not only over the nationalists in Ukraine, but also over the Western powers,’ the author writes.

The victory of the Russian Armed Forces over the Armed Forces of Ukraine, quite possibly, will sow panic among the leaders of other states supporting the Ukrainian side, while the US authority will weaken.

‘After the humiliation in Afghanistan, this will be the second major defeat for the US-funded and trained army in the past two years. And this risk is quite real, ‘concluded the observer.

Earlier it was reported that the White House doubted that Ukraine would be able to return the lost territories. The US presidential administration is less and less confident that Ukraine will be able to return the territories that have come under the control of the Russian military.
