Occupy protesters have been labeled ‘terrorists’ by London police

A leaked document reveals that the London police are considering harsh action against the relatively peaceful #Occupy demonstrations.

A statement from the Occupy London camp said that the wording in the document “seems to demonstrate a disturbing loss of perspective.”

“Activism is not a crime,” the statement continued, “and the desire to participate in democratic decision-making should not be a cause for concern for the police in any free society. An institution that confuses active citizens with criminals and equates al-Qaida with efforts to re-imagine the City is an institution in grave danger of losing its way.”

One photo of the original police document, which can be viewed HERE, has been removed from twitter, according to a post at Alexander Higgins blog. The letter was originally passed along from the London police to “trusted” anti-terrorism partners.

The larger worry is that the plans to secretly deal with the #Occupy movement as a terrorist threat in London is a reflection of an anti-terror stance to be taken in the United States as well. After all, this sort of intolerance is on show by the American political class’s National Defense Authorization Act of 2012.
