Holder reconstitutes Homegrown terrorists/extremists Task Force

“We must also concern ourselves with the continued danger we face from individuals within our own borders who may be motivated by a variety of other causes from anti-government animus to racial prejudice,” Attorney General Eric Holder said.

The Obama administration announced today that it is resurrecting a special federal law enforcement group that will target what it calls “homegrown extremists.”

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) under its former secretary Janet Napolitano had begun to monitor, infiltrate, and smoke out members of terror-connected groups in the United States.

Napolitano took an enormous amount of heat from the public over several internal memos that were leaked to the press, indicating that DHS considers conservative, evangelical Christians, members of the Tea Party, citizens who support former U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, and those who carry copies of the U.S. Constitution and espouse its precepts as “potential homegrown terrorists.”

Holder is reviving a special law enforcement unit that was placed in moth balls after it had caused such outrage. The unit will be charged with coordinating the intelligence the Justice Department has gathered on such groups and individuals, supposedly to step up its activity in apprehending and arresting U.S. citizens.
