What is Truth? Seeking Truth in a World of Lies

Sergey Baranov, author of PATH “Seeking Truth in a World of Lies” and I recently took some time to discuss his book and to ponder some of the great philosophical questions life presents us.

Russell Scott: Your new book PATH “Seeking Truth in a World of Lies” is basically your life story, starting with your earliest memories and fittingly ending with your thoughts on death. Through this autobiographical format you manage to educate the reader on a great number of esoteric and “Fortean” subjects. What made you choose to write in the first-person narrative?

Sergey Baranov: When I began my book, I knew nothing about the art of writing. I just felt the need to express myself and share my story. I recalled how valuable it had been for me to hear other people’s stories throughout my life. Although not all of them have had great significance to me, the sincerity with which they were shared was always touching. I felt this was the key to reaching people hearts and minds.

So, writing it the way I did wasn’t so much of a choice, rather, it was a natural flow of thoughts and feelings flowing through me like a mountain river finds its way through the rocks.

Russell Scott: Mark Twain famously said “Never tell the truth to people who are not worthy of it.” As a seeker of truth myself, I must admit it has been increasingly difficult relating to the “common man” as I research deeper into the truths of life. The average Joe is simply not interested in grand conspiracies or esoteric thoughts. Galileo said he “never met a man so ignorant that he couldn’t learn something from him.” I feel truth should unify, not divide, however this seems a grand task as the divide between the pro-establishment and anti-establishment camps grow ever wider… your thoughts?

Sergey Baranov: That is a deep question Russell, which could lead to a long discussion.
