Panhandle Hooker To Bring Significant Snow To The Midwestern States On Sunday

(TheWeatherSpace.com) – A significant snowfall event is likely for the Midwest, from parts of Missouri, through all of Indiana, into parts of Ohio and Michigan.  A large area of 6-10″ snowfall amounts is to be expected.

This system, called a ‘Panhandle Hooker’ originates from the Texas Panhandle as a deepening surface low.  It curves (hooks) northeastward into the Midwest, causing heavy snow along the way.  It is this system that will create the blast of historic arctic air (click here for story) that will dive in after the weekend.

Projections here at TheWeatherSpace.com see the system as giving plowable snowfall to all major cities in MO, IN, OH, and MI.  The heaviest snowfall will be in Southeast IN and Western OH … It’ll be windy later Sunday in some of these harder hit snowfall zones … so near blizzard conditions are also possible.
