California Drought Not Letting Up

While California had some storms come in earlier in December that dropped heavy rain in coastal areas, and some snow in the central Sierras, overall there has been little, and really, no relief to the extreme drought situation.  The present weather pattern is not helping at this point in time either.  A high pressure system has developed in the eastern Pacific and the jetstream has moved over Oregon taking all the moisture with it.  Temperatures for this time of year are quite warm, with Lake Tahoe sitting at 45F this morning at 3:55am, which doesn’t help keep the snow pack up.  There is very little snow at lake level also, and the lake itself is low for this time of year.  The IR satellite image above shows the high pressure and the jetstream, as well as some interesting details, especially a significant number of “trails” off the coast of California.  Not sure what kind of “trails” they are, but if one watches the images you can see the moisture seem to split apart and dissapate as it comes into central California.  Water situation in California is going to get much worse before it gets better anytime soon, at least for the moment.

Well now, the high for today was supposed to be 50F here in the Lake Tahoe Basin today, but now they’ve revised it up to 60! Supposed to be even warmer on Tuesday! Nah, theres no climate change going on, or is there something else going on? Over the weekend the chemtrail spraying was off the charts with planes flying all over the place spewing their toxic soup to block the sun’s rays, as well as make the H2O molecules fall apart so the clouds wouldn’t drop any moisture. Watched the French video documentary on chemtrails and everything they show in that video is right on.

The weather reports aren’t very encouraging here in CA. Look at the following enhanced infrared image:

      http://weather.unisys.com/satellite/sat_vis.php?image=enh&inv=0&t=l12&region=he

The weather systems approaching the west coast of the US are being blocked and move to the N/NE. There won’t be much moisture coming into CA anytime soon.

Heres another shot of the high pressure system that is blocking storms coming into the west coast. This is normally a spring and summer time pattern.

As of December 5, 2014, the northern Sierra snow pack is at 32% of normal, and the central Sierra is at 41% of normal, while the southern Sierra is at 49% of normal. A small storm is expected to sweep through the Sierra’s Wednesday, but its going to move so fast it won’t drop much in the way of moisture, and now some forecast it to miss CA as the moisture moves N/NE through Oregon due to the jetstream, which in this image looks quite odd to me.

Something strange. The comments being shown for this article number 39, but on my screen am only being shown 4? Hit refresh several times, but no change. Censorship perhaps?

My mistake. There have been, now, 46 “views” of this story, but no comments. Forgive me.

Well, today is a strange weather day here in South Lake Tahoe. It was 50F at lake level up until 11am, and its been hailing and spitting snow off and on now since about 11am. Temp has dropped to 42 now. Forecast calls for rain to start around 1pm, lasting until around 3pm when it supposed to change over to snow, with snow showers until 10:20pm tonight.

Storm rapidly came through yesterday and dropped a minimal amount of snow up here in Lake Tahoe. Got much colder after the front went through. 19F this morning and high of 30F predicted. Notice the number of views for this article are now gone, or this just what’s showing on my machine? I don’t know. Keep an eye on the weather and the sky. Observe and report if you wish.

Well, looking at weather situation, and the lack of snow and rain in CA, except in isolated areas, it appears that a famine could well be on its way. The following map shows the extent of the SEVERE DROUGHT that is ongoing in much of CA.

      http://weather.weatherbug.com/green-living/drought-map.html?zcode=z6286&region=8&region_name=North America&country=US&country_name=USA&state_code=CA&state_name=California&zip=96150&city_name=South Lake Tahoe&stat=KTVL

The lack of availability and cost of water is now so high that many farmers and ranchers are not able to take care of their farms and ranches. CA is a major producer of fruits, nuts, veggies, dairy, and livestock. Production of these commodities is half what it was in 2013, and production levels are dropping everyday. Was driving toward Walnut Grove, which is west of I-5 some 5 or six miles and south of Sacramento, and there used to be all kinds of fruit trees along the way, but many of the trees died due to lack of water, and so the farmers bulldozed them into piles to be burned. Many of the fields I saw were devoid of any plants except for weeds. In my estimation, if things don’t drastically change in the very near future. Corn and cotton are being abandoned as crops due to the high cost of water in CA. CA used to yield a full one third of all the veggies sold and eaten in the US, but no more. CA was the top global agricultural producer at $44.7 billion, but not anymore. Estimates put the amount of land no longer being used to produce crops and livestock at over 500,000 acres, and thats quite substantial. The following article from Bloomberg details the disaster unfolding:

      http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-01-29/california-farms-going-thirsty-as-drought-burns-5-billion-hole.html

Now you know why I think famine is going to be a much bigger problem in the near future than most people realize.

And the severe drought continues. A very dry and cold Artic air mass moved over the west coast of the US this week. Its 5F this morning in South Lake Tahoe. Wind chill makes it -6. Cold, but not unusually cold. Last year same thing happened the first part of December, 2014, and it lasted about a week. By Sunday its supposed to be near 50F and no overnight freezing temps after that for awhile. In the following image note the storm in the middle of the Pacific as it move N/NE, not west toward CA. Sure is an odd weather pattern. Usually, storms move in off of the Pacific and drop lots of rain and snow, but not this year, so far. Sacramento, CA, is 30F this morning, and lots of frost damage to winter crops are a big worry. Anyway, the drought continues to get worse by the day. Big problems are coming.

No one wants to comment on this “issue”, but soon it will be unavoidable! The drought is getting worse and worse. Take a look at this enhanced radar loop and notice how all the moisture in the Pacfic east of the west coast of the US is moving directly north. Been doing this for some weeks now.

Well, today is certainly a unique day, in more ways than one. First of all, at around 6:15am PST took the wife to work and we both saw a strange flashing light to the E/SE radiating from the south to the north. It appeared to look like a light you might see from an airport beacon, on much brighter, and high up in the atmosphere. It varied in intensity, but flashed from south to north in a seemingly regular manner. Also, this morning over our area near Lake Tahoe, and the Sierra’s, and most of Nevada there where wide high altitude chemtrails plainly visible. They can be seen in several satellite images including this one:

      http://mp1.met.psu.edu/~fxg1/SAT_US/animir.html

      and this one:

      http://mp1.met.psu.edu/~fxg1/SAT_WEST/animir.html

      and this one:

      http://www.nrlmry.navy.mil/sat-bin/display10.cgi?SIZE=Thumb&PHOT=yes&AREA=pacific/eastern/sierra&PROD=vis&NAV=epac_westcoast&CGI=epac_westcoast.cgi&DISPLAY=Latest&MOSAIC_SCALE=15&CURRENT=LATEST.jpg

The “trails” are very wide, but now dissipating and moving east.

Also, a “monsoon flow” is now in process, something I saw a couple of days ago, and thunderstorms are predicted for various locations in the Sierra’s and down around LA/SD area. Very strange because weather forecasters are saying this has never happened before in the winter months. I’ve never seen it happen in winter time and I’ve followed the weather all my life.

You tell me what’s going on!

Let me try again. This day is certainly one I’ll never forget up here at Lake Tahoe, CA . Was taking the wife to work at around 6:15am PST this morning and we both saw a very strange flashing light to the E/SE over the horizon. It radiated from south to north in a wide swath and continued to pulsate right up until around 6:45am. Looked like a beacon from an airport, but much brighter and higher in the atmosphere. Also, once the sun came up there were very wide “trails” in the upper atmosphere and lots of them. Satellite images right now on any of the websites that show them readily show these trails covering all of Nevada. And, in something I think is related, I just read the article posted on this website:

‘Monsoon Pattern’ Through Saturday Morning Expected For Southern California
By Weather Feed on Wednesday Jan 07 2015 16:17

Something not right about all this because according to weather reports this is entirely abnormal! Thunderstorms are predicted along the crest of the Sierra’s south from Lake Tahoe, to LA and SD. Very strange indeed! What do you think?

Drought is getting worse by the day. Watch the following video and witness the storms coming in from the Pacific just get ripped apart!

      http://weather.unisys.com/satellite/sat_vis.php?image=enh&inv=0&t=l12&region=he

Might get some snow in the Sierra’s a week from now, but only a 50% chance right now.

    • Anonymous

No one seems to care about this drought, but shortly, people will be caring, and alot! If CA doesn’t get some snow and rain, and in great quantities, and soon, the situation in the southwest, especially in southern CA, Nevada, and Arizona, will lead to some big problems! Some reports coming out, from people who’ve left these states already, indicate millions of people will be leaving these areas due to lack of WATER! What’s blocking the storms from coming into CA? I don’t really know, but have some suspicions. I do know its highly unusual for a 200 mph jetstream driving storm systems toward the west coast of the US to just appear to be stopped before they get to the CA coast. This image shows you exactly what I mean.

Drove up into Oregon this last week. Lots of preparations being made for the masses who’ll be moving, or who are already moving, out of the southwest due to the severe drought. Shasta Reservoir is still way below normal for this time of year. Mount Shasta has a minimal amount of snow on it compared to what I’ve seen it have on it in the past. The Sacramento River near the Sacramento International Airport is the lowest I’ve ever seen it for this time of year! The railroad authorities are building new sections of track and repairing old sections of track in many places. Saw over 100 railroad flatcars just past Winchester, OR, with all kinds of building supplies loaded on them sitting in a new switching yard. Saw stockpiles of different types of gravel for road beds along the I-5 corridor, along with all kinds of heavy equipment used to build roads and bridges. Saw signs for new housing tracts north of Eugene, OR, and near Salem, OR.
