Is Bangalore’s pleasant weather title in danger?

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

April begins on a hot note in both Delhi and Mumbai. Several parts of the country witness hot and uncomfortable weather conditions. When it comes to being hot and humid, Kolkata is no better.

However, there’s always been that city where one could blindly turn to, for a pleasant weather, and that’s none other than Bangalore or Bengaluru.

While air conditioners became a bare necessity in both the national and commercial capital of the country as soon as summer gave a sneak peek, Bangalore continued to be the envy of every eye that resides in Delhi or Mumbai.

However, weather in Bangalore has taken an unusual and an unexpected turn. Of late, temperatures have only been on the rise. Pre-Monsoon showers have remained absent from the silicon city for quite some time now.

Usually, after a few warm days in Bangalore, rain gods would be kind enough to bestow some kindness in the form of rain. While the weather in Bangalore was once compared to the weather of the hills, the current temperatures have a different story to tell.

March in 2015 was comparatively less warm than this year. Maximums have been well above the normal levels throughout the month of March. April has turned out to be even worse; maximums have during most days remained above the 35-degree mark. During the last two days, temperatures have been recorded as high as 37 degrees.

Today, at around 3.30 pm, Metar of Bangalore showed 40 degrees as its maximum. However, the actual maximum recorded will be out by 5:30 pm and will be less than 40 degrees. But, with the present situation, the city may be able to surpass its all time maximum record which stands at 38.3 degree Celsius.

While summer like conditions crept in during the end of March, this year the final week of February witnessed record-breaking temperatures. On February 22, the city recorded 35.5 degree Celsius, which happens to be the highest in more than a decade.

With less humidity, cloud build up is highly unlikely. Thus, with no rain in sight, weather conditions are likely to remain about just the same for the next few days in Bangalore.

Unfortunately, for those who considered Bangalore to be their pleasant metropolitan retreat, the crown of the city seems to be on shaking ground. And, sadly, the pleasant weather title has suddenly transformed into ‘hot as hell’.

If you were about to book your tickets for some relief from the scorching summer heat, it is high time you reconsider your decision.
