Powerful storms/GIANT hail in Alberta Thursday afternoon and evening produced at least one tornado, southwest of Edmonton. (The Weather Network)
Environment Canada confirmed the twister Friday as an EF-0, the lowest on the scale but still packing powerful winds up to 130 km/h. It touched down near the community of Breton around 5:30 MDT and travelled east toward Leduc for several hours, according to the weather agency, which says the storm also produced golf ball-sized hail.
Thursday’s storms produced large hail, strong winds, and large funnel clouds which resulted in some extraordinary photography and videos.
