Separation of State and Church

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Usually, the Obama administration and liberal courts work very hard to separate church and state by keeping anything related to religion, church, and Christianity out of all state-owned buildings and state functions.  Prayer in schools, for example, is prohibited in all public schools.  There are two sides to every issue.  Now, “we the people” must work hard to separate state and church.  The Obama administration is working hard to force church-owned operations (Catholic hospitals in this case) to provide contraceptive services to its employees and to the general public.

Providing a waver to churches on paying for contraceptive services but, instead, forcing insurance companies to pay for these contraceptive services does not resolve the problem.  The church still must provide the “free” services, which contradicts its religious principles, values, and beliefs.  Consequently, we must maintain the separation of state and church if the government insists on maintaining the separation of church and state.  What is good for the goose is also good for the gander.

Any Catholic can freely exercise their rights to NOT use contraception. However, if we are to mandate health insurance, we need to have minimum coverage standards. Birth control and other contraceptives need to be required coverage.

The numbers show that 98% of Catholic women DO USE birth control and other contraceptives. Some of them use birth control pills to regulate their period, not to be promiscuous.

It comes down to the same argument the right uses when it comes to gun control. GUNS dont kill people, PEOPLE kill people. The fact that birth control coverage is included in mandated insurance does not mean people have to use it. The only way you will violate your religious convictions is by using it.

If you want to claim that you have to pay for the coverage, we have to pay taxes that a majority of which are used to build bombs and kill innocent civilians in other countries. I have religious convictions about the use of my money for those purposes, but I cannot opt out of paying taxes because of my religious convictions. Even though it clearly says in the Bible “Thou shalt not kill”, I do not get a free pass on taxes. Imagine if you could write off 40% of your tax bill because its “morally reprehensible”.
