Mysterious Honey Discovered That Kills All Bacteria Scientists Throw At It
Australian researchers have been astonished to discover a cure-all right under their noses — a honey sold in health food shops as a natural medicine.
Far from being an obscure health food with dubious healing qualities, new research has shown the honey kills every type of bacteria scientists have thrown at it, including the antibiotic-resistant “superbugs” plaguing hospitals and killing patients around the world.
Some bacteria have become resistant to every commonly prescribed antibacterial drug. But scientists found that Manuka honey, as it is known in New Zealand, or jelly bush honey, as it is known in Australia, killed every bacteria or pathogen it was tested on.
It is applied externally and acts on skin infections, bites and cuts.
The honey is distinctive in that it comes only from bees feeding off tea trees native to Australia and New Zealand, said Dee Carter, from the University of Sydney’s School of Molecular and Microbial Biosciences.
The findings are likely to have a major impact on modern medicine and could lead to a range of honey-based products to replace antibiotic and antiseptic creams.
Professor Carter’s two sons, Marty, 8 and Nicky, 6, think it’s funny the way their mother puts honey on their sores. But she swears by it, telling stories of how quickly it cures any infection.

Have known about this for years – it’s not new(s)…
There is nothing “mysterious” about it. Honey has had these qualities ever since it was first invented only Minuka honey has apparently got it in spades ! Hydrogen Peroxide at 3% will do a similar thing .
RiseEarth must have stock in honey producing companies.
Putting honey on sores is not a good idea. Most bacteria thrive in a warm sweet enviroment. Why do you think they use a form of chocolate in culture dishes when they swab your throat or a wound? Because it’s an ideal media for growing bacteria.
“Putting honey on sores is not a good idea.”
That’s absurd. Honey never spoils. I once had a very bad wound right below my knee cap from a fall on concrete. It was at least a 3″x2″ wound down to the third layer of skin. I applied honey and gauze bandages for several days. It healed very nicely and there isn’t even a scar to see.
Mysterious, really?
Honey have had that property since bees started making it.
During the Civil War, honey was used on wounds as an antibacterial. This truly is OLD news!

Anyone “worth their salt” in natural health knows about this honey, don’t know why this news at all.
nice
” mysterious” lmao. There is nothing mysterious about this, the poster is an idiot. We have known all this and more for decades and it isnt just manuka honey that is that good but its a hell of a way to sell it for 10 pounds a tiny jar.
Hardly new NEWS. Manuka honey is rich in hydrogen paroxide which is the “bug killing” agent in the honey. Its used throughout the world and is particularly usefull in wounds and skin burns as it helps prevent infection. Its good stuff and not quite as cheap as your normal garden variety.

Hardly new NEWS. Manuka honey is rich in hydrogen paroxide…….
Its Hydrogen Peroxide or H2O2.
Honey has an osmotic effect.[78] Honey is primarily a saturated mixture of two monosaccharides, with a low water activity; most of the water molecules are associated with the sugars and few remain available for microorganisms, so it is a poor environment for their growth. If water is mixed with honey, it loses its low water activity, and therefore no longer possesses this antimicrobial property.
When honey is used topically (as, for example, a wound dressing), hydrogen peroxide is produced by dilution of the honey with body fluids. As a result, hydrogen peroxide is released slowly and acts as an antiseptic.
