USB276, bill will allow the state of California to force vaccines on medically exempted children including Autism!!! USB276, the bill that will remove medical exemptions for vaccinations for 99% of those who currently have them passed out of the Appropriations Committee without any amendments on a 11-4-3 vote.  We are thankful for the Republicans and Asms Chau and Maienschein who did not vote for the bill

So what now?

Sb276 now heads to the assembly floor.  We were hoping for at least some amendments coming out of appropriations, but none were required.  Senator Pan has made it clear that he feels he doesn’t need any amendments to get the 41 votes to get the bill passed by the Assembly.  If SB276 is not amended it could go to the Assembly for a floor vote tomorrow through next Wednesday.  If it is amended then the amendments need to be in print by next Tuesday. It can be brought for a vote within 72 hours of being amended.  If it passes the Assembly it then goes back to the Senate for a concurrence vote and then to the Governor for his signature or to be vetoed.

Visit Your Assembly member’s district office – even if you already have many times

Visit your Assembly member’s district office this week, multiple times if you can.  Drop off different pieces of information.  Share your concerns about the bill.  I have attached different documents that you can use for this purpose.  Many, many assembly members have heard and understand the concerns.  However, when they go to Senator Pan with them, he sends a group form CMA to talk to them and waylay all the concerns as if they are not real.  The assembly members are then “happy” with the bill.  You have to keep up the relationships with those staffers and legislators that you have, and have them understand that the bill does not address these concerns, even if Senator Pan and the CMA says it does.

If there is one concern/amendment to focus on it is the amendment to expand the medical criteria.  If we can get this wording in the bill it will at least allow for doctors to use the latest research and children to be safe from being injured due to family history and genetics and would allow doctors to use the latest research…

Remove reference to the non-existent CDC, ACIP and AAP criteria for medical exemptions and replace all references to the criteria with “CDC Contraindications and Precautions, information from the CDC Vaccine Information Statements, adverse reactions from the manufacturer vaccine package insert, the HRSA National Vaccine Injury table information, family medical history, genetics and other documentation supported by relevant research.”

Governor Newsom on SB276

In June, Governor Newsom said he had issues with SB276 which cause a flurry of activity, resulting in significant amendments to the bill, which seemed to waylay his concerns.  However, last week he stated that while he is inclined to sign the bill he still has concerns.
