Six-Figure School Chief Wants to Be Paid Like Pro Athletes

Citing the obvious fact that he gets paid less than a Major League Baseball pitcher in his home state earning $9 million this year, a Washington public school chief says he deserves an equivalent salary because his job is much more important to serving the public good.

“Somebody who’s responsible for 1,050,000 kids would only add up to a few pitches by a guy for the Seattle Mariners,” Washington state schools’ chief Randy Dorn complained to the House Ways and Means Committee last week. The frustrated Dorn said his six-figure salary is less than the Seattle Mariners’ Cliff Lee gets for pitching one game.
