Gold Tape - Convenient, Counterfeit Proof and Real

Here’s an approach to utilizing gold as the currency it actually is.  Gold Tape.  Imagine a reel maybe half an inch wide and thin enough to bend and wrap around itself.  The color and malleability (bendable factor) would be obvious and it could not be faked and filled with tungsten.  Ingots, bars and even coins are all suspect more than ever.

Increments could be indicated like on a measuring tape and it could be cut to suit the transaction.  Individual banks could still offer credit cards (plastic) for convenience on some level for smaller transactions, or one could advance a certain amount to a grocer, for instance, and buy from that account.  Merchants, car dealers and such would need scales to double check transactions, but it would not be inconvenient to buy a car for say ten to twenty ounces, or a foot or two of thin Gold Tape.

If by repeated cutting, the pieces became too small, it could be melted down and reformed.  Different, independent suppliers could put thier mark of authenticity and purety (24 karat only) on the tape as well.  Various designs would indicate orgin and precise mineral content can be assertained if there is a dispute.

Advantages: not possiblity of counterfeiting, no fear of inflation, no possiblity of sudden dissolution as a fiat currency.  Coud it be faked?  Again: color, mallablity and ultimately a taste test should be generally adequate to prove veracity.
