What Gov. Jerry Brown Told To Do To Child Refugees Will Infuriate Most Am. Christians

By Deborah Dupré

What California’s Gov. Jerry Brown has just been told to do on Thursday to child refugees is shocking. It will undoubtedly infuriate many people, especially American Christians, according to recent polls. These illegal alien children are bringing in diseases with their dirt and the government is already paying way too much to get them into cities, according to most God-fearing Americans. They need to be sent back to their homes, no matter what violence faces them there, or just take them but definitely not their parents. “It’s not our problem,” most say, according to the latest poll.

“Vile names are called against them, and they are described as ‘invaders,’ ‘sick’ and ‘dirty.’ In truth, they are refugees from want and war, almost all the result of U.S. interventions in Central America in support of murderous military governments and the mindless drug war. These are the grandchildren of NAFTA, the economic policy which leached wealth from Mexico and its neighbors for U.S. corporate greed.” – Mumia Abu-Jamal for San Francisco Bay View

Central American Child Refugees Are Not The Enemy, US Foreign Policy Is

A new poll finds 53% of Americans, most of whom are Christians, believe the US has no moral obligation to offer asylum to today’s “Ship and Dump” children escaping violence or political persecution, direct opposition to human rights and international law. The growing U.S.-Mexico border humanitarian crisis, as tens of thousands of children flee U.S.-instigated violence in Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador and brave a dangerous border crossing in search of safety, has prompted CREDO to action involving state governors, starting with Gov. Jerry Brown.

“It’s time that governors across the U.S. step up to help care for them,” CREDO said in a written statement released Thursday, as Mumia Abu-Jamal makes the same plea to Americans from his prison cell.

The White House is ramping up its efforts to address this humanitarian crisis. Congress nears its August recess amid wide disagreement over how to address what President Barack Obama has called a humanitarian crisis. The Border Patrol detained more than 57,000 unaccompanied children from October through June, mostly from Honduras but also from Guatemala and El Salvador.

“We need to make sure our state leaders are doing their part to ensure that child refugees are treated in a humane way and not rushed back to extremely dangerous situations in their countries of origin,” CREDO  says.

Governors Martin O’Malley of Maryland and Deval Patrick of Massachusetts have offered locations in their states to temporarily house these children. With thousands of child refugees still in need, Governor Brown also needs to step up and protect the children.

CREDO activist Zhan Ouyang started a campaign on CREDOMobilize.com, allowing activists to start their own petitions. The petition to California Governor Jerry Brown says:

Tens of thousands of child refugees fleeing violence in Central America have crossed the U.S. border and are in need of humane treatment at temporary shelters. Urge Governor Brown to immediately step up by helping the federal government find locations in California to temporarily house toddlers and young children, who are being subjected to deplorable conditions in border patrol jails.

Tell Governor Brown to step up and help child refugees.

Conservative politicians, pundits, and extreme anti-immigration activists advocate sending these children back to certain death. Texas Governor Rick Perry has even deployed National Guard troops to secure the border rather than provide humanitarian aid.

A military approach, with military being the first contact for traumatized children fleeing violence, is inhumane at best. Sending soldiers to face off traumatized children is unacceptable.

These children are not criminals. They deserve humane treatment, shelter, and appropriate legal protections. Congress members and the United Nations have made it clear: these children are in fact refugees “deserving of protection under international and domestic law.”

The Obama administration needs to be pressured to change US policy in Central America, especially regarding the School of the Americas, NAFTA and linking aid and trade to human rights, the way Carter did. For now, however, children should not be revictimized for being the consequence of greedy, violent US foreign policies.

“It doesn’t matter what your governor’s position on immigration reform is — sheltering children fleeing violence is something that all states should support,” CREDO says. This is about our obligation to protect children in the midst of a major humanitarian crisis.

Would you please join Zhan at CREDO by adding your name to the petition urging Governor Brown to help protect child refugees?

As more Americans learn the truth about the cause of the border crisis and the needs of child refugees, more are defending these children in the Christina spirit of “There but for the grace of God go I.”

    • wrebi

Sure let’s support them while millions of American children live in the streets and millions of American people are out of work and begging for food. Lets be sure and supply “illegal aliens” food, water and a place to live. I mean it’s more important to take care of the illegals than it is to help our own people. Better yet, take the money that would be spent on them and spend it on the people that are legal US citizens like all those homeless US children, homeless US vets, homeless US out of work citizens.
Get your priorities straight, do you think Mexico, Guatemala, Colombia or any southern state would help you if you went there? NO they would help their own first and they will do the same here. Take your Christian spirit and give to your OWN first and then I would agree to help others.

        Agreed 100%.

      • Deborah Dupre

Yep – sounds like you’ve gotten what Jesus said really well. They are not illegal aliens – according to the law, my friend. A refugee is not illegal. You are comparing apples to oranges – changing the subject. Of course all the poor and suffering need to be cared for.

If you really want all that – learn about and oppose the real problem – the obscene defense budget – the war machine that’s depriving all Americans from what they deserve. Please do not take it out on those in need – be it refugees or the others homeless in American tent cities.

          Refugees my a**.

This is a just a small piece of a planned takedown of the US. Those who are participating …. like the Federals, some governors, etc ….. are guilty of racketeering at minimum. They should have their assets seized and should be put on trial.

If you want to help people, there are plenty of hungry and homeless US citizens that need your help. There are plenty of US vets that need your help. We have absolutely no business allowing illegal aliens to swarm our country while even one single American needs real help.

        • wrebi

When illegals are invited to come here that makes them anything but a refugee. Your an idiot and all you really want is to be the touchy feely moron that will help destroy this country by cuddling a bunch of ILLEGAL ALIENS. Get your priorities straight and quit throwing the rest of the LEGAL US citizens under the bus. That is all you are promoting. When these ILLEGAL ALIEN gang members come and destroy your city, your home, your family, will it have been worth it? If you want to help the ILLEGAL’S go south of the border and help, have fun while your doing it and quit throwing the God thing in and trying to make people feel guilty. Shame on you for everything you are touting and not having the same compassion for the US homeless.

“The state must declare the child to be the most precious treasure of the people. As long as the government is perceived as working for the benefit of the children, the people will happily endure almost any curtailment of liberty and almost any deprivation.” Adolf Hitler

God forbid if Americans decide to up and move to another spot on the planet…………

Then who will be responsible for these children ???

There is always an underlying problem with these folks, and its generally a lack of education…….ever notice how there is never enough money to go to night school so they can better themselves…………however there is always plenty of money for big rims on their cars………..

Until these folks embrace education, and try to better themselves, then they will continue to be the worlds doormats………………

These folks need to take a page out of the Jews book……….Jews are despised in Europe, yet they embrace education…………so a lot of these folks are your Doctors, Lawyers and professional’s………….notice you don’t see any Jewish folks crossing the border illegally………that’s because they don’t have to………………. they embrace education……….

    • mfritz0

They are here now, fear the Lord’s wrath if one hair is harmed upon their head. This is part of what it is to be called “Human”. We must find a way, even if it is to our detriment. Give and ye shall receive.

      • wrebi

You want to give? Then give to US citizens first. Take your moral high ground and shove it. This is crap anyway you look at it. There are already way too many people that are legal US citizens, starving, living in the streets, needing medical care and you don’t see anyone crying out for their rights. Help one of your own first and yell from the rooftops for their rights before you dare lay judgement on anyone else.

      • Deborah Dupre

Wow – Thank you mfritz. Always inspiring to see walking the talk. Blessings to you.

    • D. KRANE

There is sorrow everywhere…but unfortunately it is the children, who suffer the most.

    • GodOfInsanity

Deborah you (and all the other destroy America agenda pushers) keep calling these children “refugees” and I wonder if it’s so you can have a clear conscience. So you can be proud you helped these “poor suffering children” and say good for me. Meanwhile, while you are SO concerned for these (let’s just face facts here, their illegals) “refugee children” another homeless U.S. born child dies of starvation. Why don’t you go down to your local homeless shelter find the first child who was born here. Look them in the eye and tell them your sorry but they’re not as important as the refugees so you can’t be bothered to help them. Explain to this child that their parent can’t feed or house them because illegals are your first priority. Let’s see how good you feel about yourself after that.

      • wrebi

kudos to you GodOfInsanity for stating the obvious.

        • GodOfInsanity

That’s how it is. People like the authoress of this article believe if they are born and raised here they’re not worth their time. Who cares if they are suffering as long as we take care of others in other nations first we’ll just let God sort out the rest. Which usually means we’ll pray for you little American born child but that’s all I’ll do for you.

    • CrowPie

Here is my thinking…..We give several billion dollars a years to Israel and Germany. Neither of which need our money…..

why not apply those monies to our own homeless AND the influx of South American children that need care?

    • Savage

If they really were refugees they would find sanctuary much quicker and cheaper by heading South. Plus they could communicate with the folks who live there. Don’t even try to feed us the B.S. that these kids are coming on their own some of them in diapers across 2500 miles of three different countries. Anyone that believes that is an absolute idiot! This is orchestrated and funded by people with a nefarious agenda which is yet to be seen.
