Donald Trump, Pro-Lifer

…Today, in a new interview with CBN News’ David Brody, Trump explains the evolution of his thinking and how stories of pregnancies — including one in particular — helped change his mind on abortion…

…“One thing about me, I’m a very honorable guy. I’m pro-life, but I changed my view a number of years ago.”

“One of the reasons I changed — one of the primary reasons — a friend of mine’s wife was pregnant, in this case married. She was pregnant and he didn’t really want the baby. And he was telling me the story,” Trump told Brody. “He was crying as he was telling me the story. He ends up having the baby and the baby is the apple of his eye. It’s the greatest thing that’s ever happened to him. And you know here’s a baby that wasn’t going to be let into life. And I heard this, and some other stories, and I am pro-life.”…

And you can’t say fairer than that.  In matters of morality, the world is a very confused state.  A great deal of lies have been spread, relentlessly, over the past century or so in these issues.  It is hard for someone, without deep thought and careful instruction, to weave his way through the morass and arrive at the truth.  Donald Trump, at least in the matter of life, has found it – and God bless him for it.  Even in my life, I wasn’t always a pro-life person like I am, now.  It took me a while to first become pro-life, then to fully understand what being pro-life was all about…kind of like this:  a lot of people opposed to abortion will still hold that in cases of rape, it should be allowed.  But, life is life; justice is justice – and where is a respect for life and justice if your answer to a rapist is to murder his child?  It takes a while to get there – it takes thought, education and, of course, prayer.  I don’t know how much Trump prays, but you can rely on it that the more he does it, the better he’ll be.

Donald Trump, of course, is at least testing the waters for a Presidential run.  The big issue and controversy he’s engaged in, right now, is over the President’s birth certificate.  I’ve written on that issue here.  We’ll see how that pans out – but Trump’s boldness, heartfelt patriotism and willingness to learn and change are standing him in good stead.  I don’t know if he’ll ever make a good President, but he’s certainly making a valuable contribution to our political debates.  And that is something I never thought I would say.
